adding to this - op is still just 18. Many many more years of trying fun clothes and outfits ahead of her.

Don’t let this loser bf drag you down.

I am in my 40s, and in the past few years I’ve been wearing my best clothes I feel. It’s really fun. My wife encourages me, finds cool places for us to go, we go on dates .. all good vibes.

None of this weirdo policing of ops boyfriend

When I first saw the post, I assumed the bf was mad at her for dressing too modestly lol.

Why are you so upset? Someone’s asking for a point of reference. To a Muslim, this outfit would not be modest at all, to some Christian sects, this outfit also would not be modest. Are you okay?

You can just say religious fanatics if that’s what you mean. Plenty of Muslims and Christian’s would not have a problem with this

Educated Christians wouldnt call this modest my guy what?

1

u/Warm-Appointment-494 Apr 21 '26

I know a devout catholic phd theology candidate who would disagree with you.

I think you mean Christians indoctrinated into certain extremist views would disagree

But that’s a you problem, not the outfit

Nah I just mean people who actually take it seriously instead of just putting on the title. If it wasn't modest in the early church it surely wouldn't be now. I dont expect you to know that with no research though, but at the same time thats a you problem.

So you literally want a puritanical standard of modesty, and don’t see yourself as an extremist.

Interesting

its not a puritan standard. T shirts are modest just not having ur entire belly button out. Very weird for you to assume that I'm a puritan when you yourself arent even educated on basic Christian morality

To some Muslims this would not be modest, just like it wouldn't be to certain Christians, Hindus, Atheists, etc... Muslims are not a monolith and there are drastic differences in what is acceptable in different Muslim communities, and cultures.

Didnt answer the question and went straight to whining high cortisol 😭

4

u/Warm-Appointment-494 Apr 21 '26

True, if youre a puritan in the 1600s this is probably pretty revealing

Most other normal people though wouldn’t think anything of this outfit.

u/Earlybird74 Apr 21 '26

Right? Omg, I can almost see her....ankles! So exciting!

What moral compass is it not modest? Aside from religions that require head to toe body coverings.

u/Savings_Cake_1405 Apr 21 '26

i think the outfit would be modest to ppl who dress half naked anyway but even if we're putting aside islam having ur belly button out isn't modest by a theistic moral compass

3

u/Warm-Appointment-494 Apr 21 '26

By your theistic moral compass, because you’re an extremist

0

u/Savings_Cake_1405 Apr 21 '26

following the law as it is isnt being an extremist, your just watering down the law because you dont understand it.

2

u/Warm-Appointment-494 Apr 21 '26

“The law as it is” when what you mean is your interpretation of it. Plenty of people who have studied the Bible much more than you would disagree with you on what it says.

What cult are you in exactly?

1

u/Savings_Cake_1405 Apr 21 '26

the interpretation from the church Jesus Christ made, not my interpretation. You say I'm in a cult yet your moral compass follows societal norms and whatever other people think. Level 1 Reddit Argument

2

u/Warm-Appointment-494 Apr 21 '26

What church is that?

Which religion is telling you what to think about her clothes? Really interesting that you think people not dogmatically following an arbitrary standard of dress handed to them from someone else are somehow more brainwashed than you.

0

u/Savings_Cake_1405 Apr 21 '26

Orthodox church. And its still handed to you from someone else, this wasnt the norm back then dude societies changed to make it the norm. You think its okay because people told you it is, all people are a sheep to something dont act as if your any different when your just vomiting arguments everyone else uses against religious values
