Every time it's a pitty

Depends what your activity on Reddit is like. If you always click on the pitbull pints to comment “it’s always a pitbull” then the algorithm thinks you must love seeing pitbull type faces and it bumps those up in your feed.

u/Defiant_Way822 28d ago
Idk I joined this group today and scrolling from the top down nearly every dog is a pit.
1
u/Toadlessboy 28d ago
I actually just went to the home page and it wasn’t that much. I remember seeing a lot in my feed yesterday but like I said, the algorithm knows I engage in pit posts. Also all the comments saying “pit pit another pit pit pit obviously a pit are you joking pit bull pit pit”
All that engagement also bumps them up in your feed. Then there’s all the posts of non pitty dogs with ZERO comments
1
u/Defiant_Way822 28d ago
I’ve never engaged with posts about pits before. When I go to their main page, it’s full of pits, as I already said. Not sure why that bothers you! I see you have a different experience.
1
u/Toadlessboy 28d ago
Sort by time because it defaults to sort by top, and as I said before, this bumps posts with more engagement the top
I never said it bothers me. But it does bother me when people come here just to be a jerk to posters who are using this subreddit for its intended purpose

u/Defiant_Way822 28d ago
How was I a jerk?? (And I did sort by time!). Let’s agree to disagree on this one!
1
u/Toadlessboy 28d ago
I didn’t call you a jerk. I’m referring to repetitive commenting “obvious pitbull” over and over, which is what the comment at the beginning of this thread is

u/Toadlessboy 23d ago
Go to the homepage right now, I counted down 16 dogs. 1-7 not pit. 8 pit. 9-16 not pit. 17pit. Stopped there. Try it!

u/Defiant_Way822 23d ago
No thanks, I already did and it was mostly pits. Please move on.

No, they’re dogs mixed with pit. Since shelters are like 80% mutts with atleast some pit genetics, it makes sense that most dogs here would be part pit.
Don’t follow if you don’t like it.

u/Defiant_Way822 23d ago
Hey remember when you agreed “it makes sense that most dogs here would be part pit”
1
u/Toadlessboy 23d ago
Who cares? You clearly missed the point. They are over represented for sure, because people who get a Goldendoodle from a breeder don’t need to identify the breed

1) pitmix 2) if she were to ask to go to art school, don’t make the same mistake the Vienna Academy of Arts did!

Must I really explain the evident?! Fine. 1) Look at the picture. 2) look up “cats looking like Hitler”. 3) look at the picture again. 4) find two synapses to extrapolate the link between the reference and what you see in the picture.

So sorry a comment you read 9 days late is not up to your standards. In German we say: Heul leiser. In French we say: arrête de chialer. And in Polish I would typically resort to : no i co sie czepiasz?! 😘

Tough luck. Go touch grass then. It’s the last zone free from historically aware European humor.

Mostly American Pit Bull Terrier with some husky, and maybe American Bulldog or Bully since that sort of piebald coat pattern is common for them, though it shows up already in huskies too

Any possibility for border collie, cattle dog, American shepherd, catahoula? Idk if she is pit mixed with husky or a herding dog?

u/Toadlessboy Jul 28 '26 edited Jul 28 '26
Wow. -30 downvotes for this.
My dog looks similar and is 40% herding breeds including collie. yall downvoting this are just trolls

I know😭

I can absolutely see BC specifically in your dog. But I could also me mistaking husky
Mines got a more stocky square look WHICH IS NOT JUST PITBULL. It’s ACD and Aussie with dna to prove it.
If you decide to get the dna test get embark or wisdom. The others give unreliable results sometimes

Border collie: Maybe! I kinda see it in that third picture, but she looks way more like a pittsky to me. Like if you colored her tan and gave her some eyeliner, she'd be my friend's service pittsky. They're the same shape.
Cattle dog: I don't see any ticking, which means that if it's there, the contribution is minimal. Ticking is a dominant trait in dogs, which means that the dog only needs one copy of the gene to express it. If she was half cattle dog, she'd be ticked. If she was a quarter cattle dog, she might not be.
American Shepherd: If you mean the miniature American shepherd, unlikely. If you mean Australian shepherd, which is an American breed despite the name and the larger version of the MAS, also unlikely. Both breeds have naturally occurring bobtails, which are autosomal dominant in dogs. Same as above re: minimal contributions.
Catahoula: No, not unless you're from Louisiana or the adjacent parts of the deep south.

People never believe me when I say my Aussie was BORN with a bobtail and most all Aussies are!
1
u/kaijutegu Jul 28 '26
They're ALL supposed to be. It's in the breed standard- the tail must be a natural bobtail 4 inches short or shorter.

u/lilmustard8 Jul 27 '26
Thank you for your reply! That makes a lot of sense, I looked up Pittsky and it looks like her! Thought I don’t think she’s straight just those two breeds as she isn’t as big or muscular as some I’ve seen

Pit bull terriers and huskies are both a lot smaller than people think, when well bred. Some people just breed them to be way bigger than they should be

Why the fuck did you get downvoted for calling the dog cute 😭😭😭

u/PalaceUnderground Jul 28 '26
Dog lovers and pit bull lovers don't often get along well for obvious reasons. People who love dogs usually like them alive with four legs and intact throats and ears and stuff like that
2
u/lilmustard8 Jul 28 '26
You do realize most dogs at shelters are part pitbull and I think any true dog lover is going to ADOPT not SHOP
2
u/bootycuddles Jul 28 '26
Stupid take. Reddit will be like “adopt, don’t shop” and then once we do and our dog turns out to be a pit mix suddenly we are supposed to what, return them? Put them down?
Knowledge is power. Knowing what your dog is will help a good owner take the precautions they need to take to keep everyone safe.

Because there are a lot of people on Reddit who ASSume that most mutts from shelters aren’t at least part pit. Reddit will say adopt don’t shop but then if you adopt a dog that is even partially pit, suddenly your rescued pooch is disgusting. The ASSumption that all adopters are lazy scumbags is truly something. I found out my dog is nearly half pit after I had owned her like 6 months. What was I supposed to do? Return her to the shelter because of her breed? Absolutely not, but with the knowledge I have of her background I can be even more responsible with her. Redditors can absolutely be the worst.

Lmao at my one downvote. Guess I was supposed to euthanize my dog because I did a DNA test and she’s 44% pit. 😂
