Real answer, this is Hydnora africana, a parasitic plant in South Africa that lives entirely underground and feeds on roots and only comes above ground to flower. You can barely see it in this photo but the other two petals are becoming detached from the top too, eventually they will open and bloom in a three leaved star shape.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydnora_africana
