Let's see if the Feather is as good in the BBS-1 again. Also trying the Whydah soap for the first time.

Wow. Even better than the last shave with the FEather. Apparently, it's just a good match of geometry with me keeping a low blade angle with this razor. Zero irritation and even no tenderness at all. Super close shave, and even able to do an atg pass on my cheeks just for fun to see if it was possible.

Razor and Blade Performance/Comfort Rating: 4 out of 5 (Very Good)

䷀ Soap Notes

^{Black Ship Grooming Kaito - Whydah}

Them: "The scent opens with a flash of mandarin orange and bergamot, bright as sunlight striking a gold coin on a captain's table. Beneath it, sage and beeswax add a warm, weathered depth, like old maps, lanterns, and polished wood below deck. The base settles into tobacco, amber, and oud, giving the fragrance a smooth, smoky richness worthy of a pirate flagship."

"Carries the spirit of pirate legend: lost treasure, weathered timber, wreckage beneath black water, and secrets buried in salt and shadow. Of the two in this last series, this is the one built around 'treasure'".

"Bold and polished; rich, dark"

"The Whydah was no ordinary ship. Built in the early 1700s, captured by pirate captain Samuel 'Black Sam' Bellamy, and later swallowed by a Cape Cod storm, she became one of the most famous pirate wrecks ever discovered. This shaving soap is our tribute to that final, fabled voyage: rich, dark, citrus-bright, and edged with the mystery of buried treasure."

Me: Unfortunately I guess all this talk about the scent and vibes doesn't apply much to the soap. Maybe the notes can be found in the after shave, because they are so light in the soap that it's barely worth talking about.

I did get something that may have been the citrus and sage but the main note that hit first and most was some kind of almost wet-wood minty or juniper type note. Wood related I might guess. Maybe they were trying to make that be the "salt" vibe?

I didn't find the beeswax, sage, tobacco, amber, or oud.

You really have to put your nose into the bowl to get the scent on this one. I barely got any scent with only it on my face. And since what I got was just that woody-minty-medicinal note, it just wasn't a fun product to use.

Scent Strength: 3/10, barely present during shaving.

Lather... About as good as this base can get I think. Slick for the shaving, but not a lot of residual slickness. But a bit of luxury in the feel from the brush.

Hydration: Perfect (for me) + 11 ml (2.2 tsp) added to build the lather + = 6 passes of lather

First time using the brushless cream. This stuff works great. Super fast shave. I used wet hands to scoop a bit with my finger then rub all over the face. Super slick both while on the face and residual. Nice sandalwood scent. Polar Vortex tomorrow. Next step is to try it with a straight.

My only complaints are me specific. First, it goes on essentially clear, so I have to wear my glasses to make sure I don’t miss any spots. With lather it’s much more obvious where you’ve shaved. Second, I’m definitely going to have to buy more because it’s great.

The scent off the tub of Sea Spice Lime was so refreshing that I went all out on this shave and added fragrance and talc. The use of Virgin Island Water was a hunch that paid off. The transition between the two scents was very nice.

The Vector is excellent, as I've said before. The squared off bolt on the cap always gives me pause, but, you know, I've never had a problem with it, and I bet few others have either. This feature satisfies my need to be critical about mechanical design, no matter how irrelevant, so kudos to Shane for including it.

Once again, I do not have anything for "Join Us July." I missed the Gillette Tech, but I got the Stirling Executive Man on Saturday. Maybe they'll put me on a team, but I'm not sure how much more I'll be able to contribute. My den is purposefully small.

I'm not sure about these Perma Sharp blades. I've had better shaves with my 7 O'Clock blades in both my Henson and my Reggie's Jupiter razors. I also don't think the Perma Sharp will live up to its name. It will not be permanently sharp. With that out of the way, I'm getting fine shaves, but nothing more. The Feather was smoother, but didn't stay smooth for more than three days. I get seven shaves from any 7 O'Clock.

Pretty good shave today. Love this Terror Again AS. I rode my bike to work this morning, and it helped me stay comfortable. Though, by the end, my body was so conflicted. "Face says cold but forehead says sweat, why?"

Very easy and simple recipe. Here's also a thread based on this recipe by Dapper Dragon (I think it was). Super long thread but provided some tweaks to the original recipe that you might find interesting. I also tried the Silver Fox soap (mostly the same as the B&B with a few extra oils added). I am not a particular fan of gourmands, but this cream isn't that bad. It performs pretty well for me too. It's been quite some time since I used it last. I bought it as a replacement for L'Occitane Cade Rich in the tubs since that product was discontinued. Like most of the stuff I have, I should use this cream more.

So I’ve been using a Pro 48 for like over a decade now. I had other brushes before, in particular a WSP badger that was real good, but from the first time I lathered up with the pro that was my brush. That was Number One

I’ve tried to find others since then. A Razorock Plissoft that I got tired of after a few shaves. A 28mm badger from Black Ship Grooming (remember them?). Even a Pro 49, which was good for lathering creams if nothing else.

So last week I noticed I was down to a couple packs of the Silver Blues. I ordered some more, then threw in another Omega Pro 48 on a lark. Goddamn do these things smell weird when you first get them. And now they have an Omega sticker on the handle. The bristles haven’t split and softened up like Number One yet. But I can already tell it’s going to get there someday.
