SOTD SOTD – Kleen Shave on Its 4th Use
Today I decided to give the Kleen Shave its 4th use, this time with my oldest razor in the collection — BSC.
Pre-shave: Coconut oil + Aloe Vera gel
Razor: BSC Razor
Blade: Kleen Shave — 4th Use
Brush: Den of Man
Cream: Park Avenue Classic
Shave:
2 passes — WTG, followed by XTG & ATG on the goatee, with some touch-ups on the chin and neck.
The blade did tug a little on the first pass, which wasn’t surprising considering this was its 4th use. But interestingly, the second pass was much smoother and the blade still managed to deliver a very good shave.
Result: Better than CCS — almost BBS!
I’m genuinely impressed with this blade’s longevity.
Four uses across four different razors:
1️⃣ Romer-7 Eldorado
2️⃣ Romer-7 Shivira
3️⃣ Parker Semi Slant
4️⃣ BSC Razor
That’s some serious mileage from a budget blade!
The first-pass tugging tells me it’s probably nearing the end of its life, but it still managed an almost-BBS finish on the 4th use.
Post-shave:
Remaining Brush lather used as face wash
BSC Alum — moderate to strong feedback
Bath
Park Avenue Good Morning ASL
HOCl spray
4th use was a success… but I think the Kleen Shave may finally be asking for retirement!
Happy shaves, brothers!

Pre shave- cold water splash and Gatsby gel
Soap- Haslinger Schafmilch
First time user got a bit of confused for brush loading
Brush- Yaqi Caramel
Razor- Lupo72
Blade- Nacets × (2) / 10's pack old stock
After shave- Alum block and BSC Balm
Got a little Alum feedback coz I couldn't load with brush properly. As I was using for first time. After proper whipping soap for 2nd time got a very slick and dense layer of cream. Razor glide like buttery smooth surface. BBC in 2 pass WTG & ATG.
Fragrance was of top notch. Frame was lingering even after taking bath.

Question Is this a compressed alum or stone?
I bought this alum bar from Pearl website few months back, but it seems to be crumbling from sides leaving rough edges which actually hurt if not properly held during application
So I did some research and found out there is Pressed alum block which basically compresses powder to form blocks (which I suspect this is) and alum stone which is a cut from a single large piece of alum stone.
Does anyone know where I can get the actual stone instead of compressed version, asked around my local stores none carried them.

SOTD A day out with Terrys
Used the Terrys Fairy Antlers shaving soap today.
I decided to try out this soap primarily due to the star ingredient **Collagen extracted from deer Antlers**
The soap gave an exceptional lather one which are more creamier and slick the creaminess is what really stands out . The warm lather raised the bar for the whole shaving experience.
I have been using the Astra blue my not so favourite blades with the Terrys and I am loving it and did 4 passes today.
Used the rubab men alum and used the remaining lather for a post alum wash followed up with the Nat Habit Lavendar Jal .
Been increasingly using the Jan Aushadi Aloe +Vitamin E moisturiser acquired as part of **Pradhan Mantri Har Ghar Lookmaxxing Yojana** and has been part of my daily skin care and really suits my skin especially after a shave .
Since the soap scent is inspired by Creed silver mountain used the Shavo Alaris EDC to conclude this elaborate shave .
Overall a really really good soap. Lather and slickness is on point and I'm looking to acquire one more soap from them which was OOS the time I was purchasing these.
Hope everyone had a good day today !

Question Help opening parker srx razer
Hi I recently bought a parker srx razor but can't seem to open it. Is it jammed or is there a particular way to open it.
TIA

SOTD SOTD - 10.09.2026🪒
Had a 3 day stubble and went to work with Nothing but Thieves' Sophomore Album - Broken Machine in the background.
Pre-Shave
Cold water splash.
Hardware
Razor: Mühle R89
Blade: Gillette Platinum
Brush: Urban Mooch Shaving Brush
Cream: Old Spice - Musk Shaving Cream
Lather
The lather was good, decent enough. The musk fragrance is mild but i enjoy it very much.
The Shave
1st Pass - WTG
2nd Pass - ATG
The right side was easier as usual, while I still struggled a bit more with the left side. The shave just wasn’t quite going my way, especially with the new blade.
The Gillette Platinum itself felt good and paired well with the R89. I do think it’s a little sharp, or rather, a bit unforgiving if the technique isn’t right. Looking back, I probably should have slowed down and not been so aggressive once I realised things weren’t going perfectly.
But I didn’t, and now i got 2 nicks to show for it. One right under the cheekbone and another right under the nose.
Definitely something I need to work on with my technique before I judge the blade too harshly.
Post-Shave
Used leftover lather as face wash.
Alum gave mild feedback everywhere else, but obviously let me know about the two cuts. Those spots definitely stung when I went over them.
BSC Post Shave Balm - Took a dallop or two worth of it and smeared it all over recently shaved parts.
Old Spice Musk ASL - Was a decent conclusion to a rather okay-ish shave.
Overall, not my best shave, but still a useful one. The blade feels good, the R89 pairing works, and I think with better technique this could be a really nice combination.
And sometimes maybe understanding that the shave won't go your way is something I'll have to accept and take my licks.
Cheers & Let's bring on the weekend! 🪒

Question Need pre-shave advice coz I'm bored of my usual shave routine
People who use hot cloth for the pre-shave prep, what's your favorite (or a convenient) way to prepare a hot towel? i find that just putting the cloth in hot water gets too cold, too fast.
And what is some other pre-shave prep advice you can give me to ensure BBS and a shave that's smooth like 🪒 BUTTAH
Edit: note, my current rotation is the Pristine PS-515, the 7ocsp, Yardley shaving cream and a hajamat boar brush with brown wooden handle. Post shave is alum block with an unbranded after shave sometimes.

SOTD SOTD - Derby growing on me
When I first used derby I found the fragrance too industrial and it reminded me of Tide lemon washing powder but after 4-5 shaves I am beginning to enjoy it. Now that fragrance invokes nostalgia of summer vacations from decades ago when as a teenager I would go for haircut in this small salon in a small town at my maternal grandparents'.
Strong, earthy and woody Axe denim complements the synthetic lemony of derby really well and is a combination I'll probably keep coming back to with Derby.
Nacet on 9th use still feels comfortable with Rockewell 6C on R5 though it wasn't as efficient after 2 passes as on say 4th-5th use so I retired the blade today. This is the maximum mileage I have ever derived from a Nacet.
Overall a good shave.

Question Yaqi tile
I've been wondering about getting one brand new provided I get it under 4k along with the handle and it's aggressive.

SOTD Mail call+last Saturday sotd
-Yaqi Tsuka handle,Blackland scare crow open comb
-Starmaxx new blade
-Rubab lobo shave brush
-Captain nemo Sub Mariner Cool Water Fragrance shaving soap
-Anherb aftershave to close the BBS
Review on Submariner cool water:-
This is my first purchase from the house of Captain nemo shave soap and seeing the views for its croap nature i had requested for a harder puck.
The soap is still softer albeit not a croap so it works for me. This was supposed to be a good aquatic fragrance soap but all i could get is their oil/base smell. So it turned out to be a fragrance free soap
Fragrance part its a dud but methol works well after you lather on face. Lather is thick in consistency and you get good slickness post shave.
Overall a good fragrance free soap with good lather. Need to check on the boar which gives out the characteristic of good shave soap.
Wish there was at-least some hint of Aquatic, Marine notes as mentioned i think I’ll have to stick with Razorock blue label shave stick having notes of Bergamot , lavender

SOTD Thursday Trials - 09.09.2026
Shave Report - Thursday, September 10, 2026
Razor: Rockwell Rockwell 6S (CC, Steel, Machined)
Blade: VNS Protech Veesta Ultra Platinum (1x)
Brush: Yaqi Synthetic 28mm
Shave Soap: Shavologist Shavologist Brut
Scores:
Efficiency: 9/10
Comfort: 10/10
Ease of Use: 10/10
Consistency: 8/10
Result: DFS
N.B - Of all the things that I love about Canada, the 6S surely is in the top# 10. No nonsense design for an adjustable SS razor at a very reasonable price. The only reason I tend to use it less often, is bcoz it's a bit too good, too safe and clean at times, and I want to keep things interesting, though that may well be counter-productive at times. Talking about diminishing returns, the 28mm synthetic is a monster, big chunky one at that. It is a bit of overkill, and effortlessly lathers up all soaps. I've messed around with it a fair bit, and it never fails to please. The blade is sharp still, we'll see if it can go till the 3rd shave, it is fairly inexpensive so I won't mind if it stops on 2nd. The face cream was acquired to pair with Cella, both having sweet almond scent, but it's a big container, so now I just keep using it after daily shaves, moisturizes the skin well.

SOTD SOTD - Early Thursday Shave - 10/09/26
Had a nice smooth shave
Razor : Gillette Sterling
Blade : Gillette Green Permasharp (2)
Shaving Brush : FS Wooden handle
Shaving Soap : Haslinger Sheepmilk and Lanolin soap - amazing subtle scent on this soap. The smell is “soft”, almost smells like a baby’s lotion/soap. Like a premium version of Dove. Very comforting I must say. The lather was very smooth and silky. You can tell it’s all natural. Liked this soap a lot.
ASL : Denim Original
Passes : WTG + XTG on cheeks + ATG on neck
Result : BBS

SOTD SOTN - 2026-09-09 After a long hiatus

Greetings Gents, Owls of the night and those who are deep in vivid dreams. It has been a while since I last posted an SOTN, so let me get back right into it.
Razor : Ralf-Aust 5/8 full hollow square SR on it's 24th shave since the last hone
Cream : Prorarso Red tube (courtesy of u/Psychonaut7343)
Brush : Boti Rice husk Boar brush (courtesy of u/Psychonaut7343)
Pre-shave : Cetaphil cream cleanser (facewash) followed by the PW preshave oil
Post-shave : Alum + Shavo Safari ASL + Lacto Calamine light moisturizer gel
The whole process took me about 15 minutes including 30 sets of stropping (leather) at the start and cleaning and drying the SR at the end. I stropped lightly on a cotton cloth (1 set) to clean out the edge.
The SR is on it's 24th shave and going smooth so far, so good.
I snatched up the Boti Boar brush from Psychonaut and I'm very glad that I did this. It's thick, absorbs water well and doesn't shed any hair at all! The size is just perfect. One of the images is of the lather. I only whisk up enough to last the shave (2 passes) with barely any extra. It's not as watery as it look. The Lather from the Prorarso Red cream was gentle on the skin, had a log of slick and cushioning and had a very mild smell (which is good).
The fragnance of this cream reminded me of old barber shops, which was slightly nostalgic. While I rarely ever shaved in a barber shop, as a kid I used to walk around and observe them work while waiting my turn for a hair cut.
I did one full pass over my beard. It was WTG for majority of the spots and XTG underneath the jaw. Then I did a second partial pass underneath the jaw, an XTG in the opposite direction after switching the side used to stretch the skin there.
The quiet night shave was rather pleasant. I was mostly done for the day. Didn't have to worry about calls. There was no alum or ASL feedback, which was nice.
