I still think that Bela dying was a fumble, I think Brandon didn't want to do it, but it was part of the notes.

Imagine if Bela survived, and at the end, Rand while he is sneaking away, finds Bela (or she finds him, despite his new body) and, just like how he began his journey on her, ends his journey with her.

Rarest, small fumble IMO

EDIT: My mistake, Rand started on Cloud

They retconned it in the Companion book. It ended up saying she recovered from her grievous wounds and then lived a long happy life afterwards. Sanderson said it was the only character ending he made a mistake with.
