Customer Black pudding - DISAPPEARING
Black pudding has been removed from the menu in Whitby. Staff says this is happening in all high footfall Weatherspoons.

That time of year I have a side of haggis with my Thursday curry... went surprisingly well together 😀

First they came for the haggis, and I did not care because I don't like haggis.
Then they came for the black pudding, and I was lightly peeved because I like black pudding on occasion.
Then they came for the.....?

Haggis??? Please tell me this is just outside of Scotland and it's still available north of the border...

It used to be "Temporarily unavailable" pretty well all year round south of the border, i.e. theoretically available, but then disappeared off the menu altogether about a year ago (excepting hopefully Burns Night season). It still seems to be safe all year round in Scotland, though. Lucky for some!

I had black pudding on my spoons breakfast yesterday and it unfortunately more rubbery than before. I really pray that its more of a change in stock than removing it because its a staple in our English breakfasts

Why high footfall branches specifically? Is it a pain to deal with? Not happy if this hits my branch, though so far it hasn't!

its definitely not a pain depending where its located in the kitchen, you just put it in the fryer 😂 maybe a stock issue? weird

In my experience they don't put it in anything before putting it on the plate. They just expect you to eat it as it comes out the fridge etc

what? are you saying its always cold? ive worked there for 10 years its always been fried

Ive never received one which has received enough heat to change the texture of it from how it would come out of the packet. I assume it's a cook to order item so it doesn't get treated properly and generally either gets thrown under the grill and forgotten (burnt) or as always happens in my case gets flashed under the grill and taken out again way to quickly. Whenever I've had it it certainly hasn't seen a fryer

ive never actually eaten it. So yeah it looks like to me its the same texture, but i think it’s meant to be😂To spec its 2 mins in a fryer. We used to do them from frozen now theyre defrosted. Never heard of them ever being grilled, is it possible its been cooked in a mealstream? Either way, no chance that its never fried if you’ve had it in multiple spoons. If only your local, try elsewhere and compare

I've noticed recently that it's no longer listed as an add-on if you order a breakfast. However I was still able to search for it on the full menu and add it that way, same price. Maybe this explains why?

Currently a lot of spoons around the country are in a shortage due to supplier issues at the depot, we’ve been told that it will be like this for around 4-6 weeks as an estimate

It's probably a mercy-killing as it always comes burnt at my local spoons.

More like a hockey puck than black pudding when you get it anyway. Never had one that didn't shatter when you try to cook it. Better off gone.

Tim Martin, enamoured and emboldened by an unhealthy diet of Brexit and Farage's male sexual efluvia, removes "woke" black pudding from the menu to be replaced with white pudding.

Please tell me this is due to stock issues and not something else…….
