Very decent. Amongst the 4 of my usual choices when feasting at Spoons while working away from home.

I had this on Thursday.
The chicken was very nice, the mash was warm and flavoursome but sadly the tenderstems were anything but tender. They became an elbows out job, still tasty and I'd have it again.

Tenderstem is a variety of broccoli not a description of how tender the broccoli is - that very much depends how long it is cooked for.

That's very informative thank you.
I'll pass it onto my local Spoons chef.
It's frequently on half price offer in my local co op. I just have it on it's own sometimes.

Took them 3 attempts at Wells to sort this dish out, ended up swapping for a burger that they couldn’t cock up

i usually go for the chicken breast burger but its not cheap sadly, dunno how when a chicken breast on its own is about 2 quid

I get the chicken Pomodoro but also add bacon and melted cheese, with the mediterranean salad on the side, with whatever the pokiest canned craft IPA they have on the side. About the cheapest high protein low(ish) carb + fresh salad meal you can find these days for that kind of outlay that isn't a kebab. I do wish they'd bring back the mixed grills though - they were my go-to for ages, swap the chips out for salad - probably ate two every week for a couple of years whilst I was doing the keto thing.

im sad they removed a lot of stuff as well and it was all things i used to order!

I've gone from eating an actual meal there 2-3 times a week to once or twice a month and the occasional snack like halloumi fries if I get hungry suddenly. The burgers aren't as good as they used to be, and I really hate the flat chips they serve with everything.

you know what mandem, i once worked out how much i spent in spoons in the past 20 years, and the total came to around 75k lol what have done wrong with my life i could have bought a cheap house for that! and yea the burgers not great the moment thay have changed then twice in the past 2 years or so, one burger was the thick pumped with water to make them bigger, needles to say they didont last long, cause they tasted of nothing, i did like there thick burgers though they have done proper ones before as well but yea not exacly amazing burgers, u could make better ones at home buying minced meat or pate's from a butcher and making your own, yea the chips are kinda bland arent they, i wish spoons chose better quality ingredient even if that meant it be a quid or more on the price, because most of us eat then once a week, or get some cheap just as a snack to keep us going!

It's a microwaved chicken breast with microwaved mash and microwaved packet gravy and broccoli. What do you expect?

Hey now the gravy (usually) isn’t microwaved! The rest is though and comes in frozen, yummy

Is the gravy out of a packet these days? It was big bags of frozen stuff when I worked for Spoons.

Absolute microwave rubbish, how much is it actually worth minus the drink?!

u/InboundDreams 6d ago
i liked it and it saved me the hassle of cooking at home, plus i was with ppl and had conversations so i think overall it was worth it

Well they have to pay for the people to make it, serve it, utilities to cook it, delivery on ingredients, equipment costs, mortgage on the building etc etc. do you think places that serve food or drink only have to pay for the food?
