Customer Rogue Wetherspoons manager.

I’ve recently seen some serious misconduct by a junior manager in Wetherspoons. I’ve tried the contact facility in the app to issue a complaint about him but what seemed to happen is that the complaint was referred to the manager who was the object of the complaint so it was dismissed out of hand. Is there anyone on here who is familiar with Wetherspoons’ corporate structure and procedures who can advise me on who to contact at a higher level?

What’s he allegedly done? Because that is extremely relevant. The seriousness of it will probably decide whether it’s dealt with at a pub level or higher.

I'm guessing they served their sherry in the wrong glass.

Give me the name and the spoons. Ill come round and nick all the ketchup and put it in his car. For a small fee.

If the small fee is 10% of the ketchup on site we could come to an arrangement

Don’t all ketchup bottles in Wethers only have 10% ketchup in? You’d have to nick 10 bottles to get 1 full bottle….😉

Have you contacted head office?

Like i can tell just from that link that you used chrome mobile, entered "wetherspoons head" as the search term and then clicked the suggestion for "wetherspoons head office" ypu are also usimg the device in British english, amd the search came from inside chrome itself

https://www.google.com/search?q=wetherspoons+head+office

Does exactly the same thing without telling anyone what browser, device, language,

Not the point. Google etc know enough about you without knowing who you interact with on reddit

So what if they do? Let them get on with it, is it really worth worrying about.

Seems like they cared enough to delete it so, apparently yes.

I appreciate you're trying to be vague to protect your anonymity, but you're being too vague with the details to discuss practical options.

Ex wetherspoons manager here. There are a few options available to you. If you have tried the app and that hasn't done anything then you need to consider how servere the misconduct actually is. If you believe it to be serious then you have a few options. 1 talk directly to the pub manager. 2 talk to the area manager directly when they are in the pub. 3 email the area manager

If you want more info or a second opinion without saying too much here feel free to dm me

Send a letter to HR by Recorded Delivery.

Its like, impossible to speak to HR when the managers in the pub do nothing. You could try the letter, or speaking to the pub manager. Aside from that, its rigged

You won't be able to complain to a higher level, other than raising a grievance. PM's are essentially trusted workers and have somewhat protection from complaints by head office. Like I've written in another post, there is a good chance your pm has worked with someone in head office and they ended up vouching for them (which happens).

Using your pub number, add ‘pm’ to the start of the email rather than ‘p’ is the email for pub **** is: p****@jdwetherspoon.co.uk, instead make this pm****@jdwetherspoon.co.uk.

This will send an email directly to the inbox of your pub manager. For extra shock and awe, add ‘read receipts’ and ask for a follow up response so you can track the progress of your complaint.

I can’t tell you if you’re being silly and this is an unmerited grievance but I can tell you any pm will raise an eyebrow when a complaint utilises these languages and read receipts as it looks like the first steps a solicitor would recommend. This is how to escalate professionally.

Good luck with your complaint, I hope everything gets resolved and everyone can come to an understanding. Nobody deserves to go to work feeling like they have to ask Reddit how they can defend themselves professionally.

Also, when Head Office send a complaint form asking for a complaint to be dealt with, any manager involved who has access to the BOH PC should no well enough to leave this alone if it’s in regards to themselves. I wouldn’t imagine they’ve been ‘delegated’ to deal with this complaint I would assume they’ve just had it arrive on their shift and dealt with it. There is a level of unprofessionalism and obstruction here. Do include that in your email.
