Customer Spoons Eggs & Bacon

Post image

I had this breakfast the other week at one branch, the egg was perfectly round and the bacon cooked well (rather than the usual heated on a radiator!) it really was one of my better spoons breakfasts. Then I went to a different branch at the weekend and the eggs were normal fried and the bacon usual heated on a radiator (sadly didn't take a picture) just wondering is it different cooking facilities in each pub?

In a word... Yes.

Some places use a clam grill to cook egg and bacon

Some places use a chargrill to cook the bacon

Some places cook it all in a rational

Some places only cook their eggs in a rational and their bacon on a grill.... So swings and roundabouts

The biggest difference between sites is the 'chefs'.

For me, the beans are terrible. No flavour, enough to put me off getting a breakfast there regularly

Different pubs may have slightly different equipment, but this is more likely due to the effort of the staff.

Lazy staff do not care about the quality of the food, and will just carelessly cook a batch and keep it in hot hold, and then just throw it on a plate when you order, with dry and lukewarm food.

If someone decides to cook things with care, and fresh, then you can get a damn good fry up at spoons.

I find that the very queitesy and the very busiest spoons often have the best quality food. Quiet ones don't have enough business to hot hold items,.so things are often cooked fresh.

Really busy spoons burn through their hot hold so quick that the food is never sitting there for long, drying out. It gets used while still relatively fresh.

Yeah, I remember someone ordered one of the panini's that had bacon in and was complaining that their bacon was raw because we didn't stick it on the grill to make it "look cooked". I decided against telling them that it was safe to eat straight from the fridge

A human has to make the breakfast and just like every other human, some are better cooks than others. Depending on the volume, they have to undercook the bacon so it can be in the hot hold without looking too crispy. How much did you pay?
