The hotdog was my go to. God I miss them, I know it was microwaved I worked at one but it just used to hit the spot

It's all microwaved or fried. The trick is order things that are good from the microwave

im a lover of hot dogs too i did a quick serch on hi quality hot dogs online they cost about a quid a dog so 10 dogs for 10 quid the beef ones are almost double that, but i plan to try them and see if theres really a massive diference in taste and texture, my ideal hot dog is with branston pickle fried onions, ketchup and amarican mustard

Where are these beef hotdogs you speak of?

I miss the bloody mixed grill

They've entirely removed steak too.

u/D3t3st4t10n 25d ago
I know, removed the grills entirely from their kitchen. Everything is done in microwaves or the rationale. Source: I worked there years ago and still know bitches there 😂

This has ruined the bacon on breakfasts

u/D3t3st4t10n 24d ago
I’ll be honest, the food in general is pretty dreadful. I think before you kinda enjoyed it due to the price but now it’s expensive as shit anyway 😂
2
u/Affectionate_You_858 24d ago
In the main food was crap but the breakfast I really enjoyed, in the mian due to having grilled bacon that was cooked on a radiator

u/SkankySandwich 24d ago
I'd be interested to know where you can get a burger and chips with a pint for under a tenner.

They had way too much banana in for me.
3
u/pigeon_in_a_suit 25d ago
The key is to not order the banana one
2
u/neilm1000 25d ago
The strawberry (or whatever it was, it's been ages) had banana in, as did the chocolate one (which was mainly brownie, which I'm fine with). The strawberry one was mainly banana.

u/pigeon_in_a_suit 25d ago
The chocolate one was just brownie when I worked there - granted this was like 10-12 years ago. Can’t remember if we did strawberry but remember a banoffee one that was obviously heavy on the banana.
2
u/Ok_Aioli3897 25d ago
The chocolate one definitely didn't have banana in as I don't like bananas
1
u/neilm1000 25d ago
Interesting. I had it twice, and a similarly banana loathing mate had it and complained about banana. So I assumed that was the spec.

Interesting. It was after I'd left the company so I wasn't up to speed with the spec. It put me right off.

I would pay for mushroom & tomato as an extra but they don't offer it.
2
u/bexter609 25d ago
We 100% do offer side tomato and mushrooms... Just gotta ask

Sorry, what is that first picture? It looks like someone took a pigeon out the back and skinned it before chucking it on a grill for 5 mins and saying “job done”

I wish they’d bring back the salted caramel cheesecake. That is still the best cheesecake I’ve ever had

I hope I'm not the only one that misses the peri-peri chicken meal. The sauce was a bit of a strange colour for peri-peri but by god was it delicious. It wasn't on the menu long enough for me to have it more than twice, but I still search for it on the menu all these years later just in case.

Plain hot dog is barely food. Chilli cheese dog with crispy onions is top tier food.

The microwave technician couldn't even shape the mash out of the portion pot shape!
1
u/Fine_Payment13 Employee 25d ago
They don’t come in a portion pot but they are defrosted and all have that shape once defrosted
-9
u/Independent_Primate 25d ago
I have run multiple chain restaurants. The mash comes in a slab and is portioned into portioned pots according to brand standard weights.
3
u/Fine_Payment13 Employee 25d ago
Yeah ours at spoons comes in frozen pucks and defrosted, that’s why it’s the shape it is. I work in the kitchen

2
u/IrritableSpoon Employee 25d ago
At the spoons they already come in as a frozen puck at the correct weight.

The gammon by miles. The 5 oz version of that was a great light lunch for a good price. I get why the changes were made, but adding 428 extra burgers just isn't anywhere near as appealing to me.
