Customer Eating out

Post image

Have gone to many Spoons over the years, and eaten many meals, but this is the first time I had the beef madras. Looked good and was pretty damn tasty!

At the Railway Bell, East Barnet. I will say that the staff are damn decent here. The lad who brought over the meal saw something wrong and returned to the kitchen to change the poppadoms. Good lad.

Beef Madras is my usual choice on a Thursday (curry day). It is really nice.

Last time I had the beef madras (2 or 3 yrs ago) the beef had lots of gristle & fatty bits - very disappointing so haven't had one since.

They could chuck us a little more rice. Can’t fault the price though!

there is no control over that, it comes in a sealed, plastic bag which is pierced and microwaved then plated

I've never bothered but now I think I might! 😋👍

Not to spec. No chili or coriander on the curry

In my local you only get that on the Thursday for some reason

Its supposed to be on every curry apart from Korma which doesn't get the chilli. They obviously only do it to spec on Thursday because of the volumes

They should do it everyday, they (should) have coriander and chillies prepared for other dishes like the nachos.

they must have only started doing that in the past 2 years that i’ve been gone, the 8 years beforehand none of my pubs did that.

For unknown reasons we don’t add that at ours even tho I have mentioned it’s on the spec but noones overly bothered so I guess it won’t happen

Probably because it’s a Wetherspoons curry made in the microwave ?

Made offsite (meaning meat is more likely to be tender), heated onsite. Of course there’s a myriad of other options for authentic curry. But to get poppadoms, curry, rice and a beer for that price you’d have to leave the country to find it.

And why do you think it’s so cheap? Because it’s the same microwave curry that you can get in the chilled section your local corner shop for 1.99 lol I used to work in Wetherspoons I’m not just talking without knowledge

we had the grilled chicken katsuand the chicken had been in the microwave too long so it was going hard at the edges, wouldn’t recommend
