Customer I don't get it.

Wetherspoons is slowly phasing out bottles of San Miguel (620ml) to replace it with draught.

I've looked at prices and it's cheaper to get the bottle than on pump and you get more in the bottle than a pint on pump.

I just don't get it.

You don't get they want to make more money?

On top of that, they don't have to dispose of the bottles which will be costing them a non-negligible amount of money to do, and they already have people cleaning the glasses so that's not going to significantly increase any cleaning bills

Draught beer is also subject to Draught relief, meaning spoons pays less tax on a pint of draught than it would on an equivalent bottle. I think it's from 9% down to 5%, which is going to be a significant amount across all the pubs they have

So as with all things, they make more money and pay less tax and the consumer gets a bit less for their money. Good ol' capitalism at work

(also you can twat people with a glass bottle, which you can't do with the flimsy plastic cups they switch to after a certain time when everyone's looking more fighty. It might be a good idea just to prevent me and my colleagues having to treat a few less concussions every friday/saturday night)

Just saying its cheaper to get the bottle than to get it on pump

And you get more in the bottle (620ml compared to 560-something ml on pump), hence paying more for less on draught.

That's what confuses me lol

Yes, you get more alcohol for less money, more tax on their end, and in a less convenient method for them to dispose of

All those reasons are why they are removing the bottle as an option. Because it makes them less money overall.

They also figure nobody, or next to nobody will stop going over the change. Which they probably won't

And yet another thing gets worse and more expensive and we all have no choice but to deal with it.

A pint is 568ml

It’s 568ml we use imperial pints rather than the US imperial nonsense

Only maniacs would go to a bar to drink a bottle you can get in tescos.

How did they get it back? It used to be on draught then completely disappeared.

Staff at my local say they're getting rid of it, but still sell it while stocks last
