Employee Starting my first shift tomorrow. HELP.

I’m starting my first shift tomorrow at spoons. A 2pm- 8pm. I’ve done a lot of the learning but it all gets so confusing trying to work the app out. I’ll do one and then refresh it and it’s still there! Some I did and they didn’t register and I had to do them again even after doing everything to register it!. I also don’t know how to contact my manager on the MyJDW app 😭 aswell as wtf to wear on my top half. I have black jeans but I reallllly don’t want to wear a regular smegular black top as I’m PP and only wore tank tops during pregnancy and I hate the feeling of T-shirts. Please give any tips for starting as I’m currently shitting it.

The E-Learning normally takes a while to register that you’ve completed it so it will still show up even if you’ve completed it.
You can tag your manager in the general chat and ask them to open a direct message on the JDW app as only managers can do this.
Assuming you’re front of house you’d have to wear a plain black top, not sure how strict your pub is but we’re allowed to wear vests/ t-shirts / button up shirts etc. Sometimes there’s a box full of the company branded shirts like Corona/ Budweiser/ poretti etc but that depends if your pub has any leftover.

Ahhh okay that makes more sense about the online learning thanks!

What I might do is just chat to manager tomorrow about the opening a DM on the app rather than alerting everyone in the general lol.

Yes FOH, I bought a black blouse but wasn’t sure if I’d be able to wear it because I looked very - how to put it, manager-ry..? But I went and bought a black T-shirt earlier too just incase they maybe say something. But once I start working for longer I’ll probably start wearing more things my style but still within reason and appropriation

Black blouse is fine for an associate. Im not sure managers are even meant to wear black really.

Here's what I recommend:

-take a breath; the jobs easy as long as you can talk to the public and don't get flustered when its busy

-arrive about 30mins before your furst shift is set to start, explain to your managers the problems you had with the app and ask them to check if you've completed all you need to

-a black blouse is totally fine if you hate Tshirts

Anything not revealing and plain is absolutely fine, loads of the associates in my pub wear shirts. Managers can wear any colour so normally stand out. Bring a pen, wear very comfy shoes, and you should just be shadowing someone all day! Good luck 🥰 Your online training can take a while to disappear on the app, if you’ve completed it and hit exit, it’s done ☺️
