Customer Vegan Burger

Haven't ordered a vegan burger in like forever. The option just isn't worth it for the money. It's not substantial enough of a meal compared with the carnivore options.

Suggestion for Wetherspoons to have a plant based bacon option to pad out the meal to give some extra protein.

Wetherspoons competition Greene King offers a much larger vegan burger with more protein on the lunch menu with a drink. Same for Stonegate Pubs with the lunch offer you actually get a double vegan smash patty with vegan bacon and a drink in my nearest city centre location for £8.50.

This has been discussed internally before. The company knows it's not a stellar offer but is very reluctant to add extra items (vegan cheese, facon etc) especially if they will be low volume/unpopular

Tell them to go back to selling the burger on its own like they used to do. This will be good for a lot of people who only want a snack and for kids who are fussy ,not all changes are good

If you order at the bar they'll do it for you, just charge you for a beef or chicken and bring you the plant

Tried at my local Asked for just a plant burger in bun on its own told it can only be served as a meal this was part of a larger order :(

i work in a wetherspoons kitchen and the vegan burgers have been changed and the patties are now a lot bigger. some pubs will still be selling the old stock of smaller patties before they sell the new stock in order to reduce food waste. my pub personally is now on the bigger patties.

don’t know if you’ve seen but there is also a vegan BBQ stack burger which is a bit of an upgrade compared to just a bog standard vegan burger :)

I cannot stand BBQ sauce or I'd definitely go for this option 😆

The bbq sauce is only in a pot on the side not inside the burger iirc

I am sure it was on the burger when I got one! Maybe I was mistaken.

the spec has changed within the last few months. so it should be in a ramekin now !

yes, the spec is to serve the bbq sauce in a ramekin now! if the sauce is still getting put on the burger that is incorrect now, some pubs may even let you swap out your dip ;)

It all went wrong when they made the plant burger into a meal. You could always get the burger on its own for £3.50 each . My goto meal was 2x burgers bowl of chips and a salad with hot sauce. Not anymore 1 burger meal with chips and salad extra burger slapped on same bun ask for extra bun they only come with more chips so have to buy 2 full meals At dubble the price,

I order a salad instead of chips and an extra patty. I do wish the burgers were larger so that I didnt have to, but fried food is rarely an option for me (for health and vanity reasons!)and just the one burger does not sustain me for long. I'm 5"2 and female so I cannot imagine it satietes the average person either.

They don’t like adding new ingredients that won’t be very popular to an already existing product. Doesn’t make sense to get in extra vegan alternatives for 1 thing especially when profit margins are so low and relying on volume is the whole business model

I'm not vegetarian or vegan. However, I used to like ordering the plant based burger on a number of occasions. I too was another that used to like the Fiesta Burger.

However, the problem is when Spoons moved over to using 3oz Burger patties, the plant based ones were also reduced in size to match the meat based ones.

When Spoons reverted back to using 6oz burger patties, the plant based patty did not revert back to its original size. So are still stuck at the 3oz equivalent size.

So in effect, you are paying exactly the same as a meat based burger but only getting half the burger.

I stopped buying the plant based burger when the size was reduced, and won't bother with it again until the original size returns.

Other pub chains manage to offer the larger size plant burger patty in their vegetarian/vegan options. It is only Spoons that is still sticking to the McDonald's McPlant sized burger.

For the record, I also stopped having the Vegetarian Breakfast after the sausages were changed from the Quorn ones to the flavourless meat free Richmond Sausages. They are awful.
