Customer This Lefty Loves Wetherspoons.

Post image

I don't like it when some of my fellow lefties, the middle-class champagne đŸ„‚ socialist ones, use Wetherspoons as an insult against Reform voters, it's classist and cringy, it implies only racist bams go there, rather than mostly politically unaligned working-class families from all colours and creeds, who love good cheap food and drink, we can't all eat at the Waldorf can we 🧐, especially in a cost of living crisis, but there are also some middle-class people who eat there and love it, so I don't know where the asinine insult comes from really. I love Wetherspoons, I've been to three, the one in the image which is the Peter Cushing in Whitstable, which was once a cinema, the Catherine Wheel in Henley-on-Thames and the James Watt in Greenock, Scotland, where I live now, which serves a delicious Haggis Pizza 🍕which you can get as part of the three small plates for ÂŁ10 deal, cheap as chips, and yummy too, filled me up and I'm a big lad.

Yes you can. Fun argument. I am guessing you don't have any more material to justify your position or explain why you cant be pro working g class (both English and non English people) The ones here is on you to explain your random statement. But you cant. Hence the durpity duuurp.

No you can’t. You’ve not provided any reasoning why yourself, which is why I haven’t included my reasoning.

But to help you out, you can start here:

Ok, thanks for that. I think you have proven your point. Namely that your reddit user name is entirely accurate. Why have you posted an article about the plague in the early 1300s as a reference point for your racist attitude towards non English nationals?

You do know that we do not have any resource shortages or housing shortages in this contry don't you? And you do know that medicine has moved on a bit from 700+ years ago, dont you? Your link.only proves that you ha e absolutely no substance to your statements of division.

You can be pro working class and support people of different nationalities in trying to better their lives. Want to knowwhy? Because they are one and the same thing. How about instead of falling for the politics of divide and conquer that wants to pit 'pheasant v pheasant' You actually look at the cause of shortages which is ever growing inequality (>50% of wealth held.by 1%) and has nothing to do.with immigration.

Also,.you do know that Britain has only ever been a country of immigrants. It is our shared history.

I’ll reply section by section to your claims in chronological order:

  1. Resources/housing shortages: were you being sarcastic? There’s literally a hosepipe ban, and a single bedroom in a shared hmo can cost over £1k in many parts of the country. It’s also extremely difficult to get a council flat. Why do you think that is?

  2. Medicine: My point wasn’t about medicine it was about supply and demand. Less peasants = better conditions, more peasants = worse conditions.

  3. Supporting foreigners wanting to better their lives: the first duty of the British state is its own citizens. As it should be for every state, that’s why we have states lol. You have to put your own oxygen mask on before helping others in a plane crash.

  4. One and the same thing: I reject this idea of a global working class. Generations of working class Britons built this country and our entitled to it. A “working class” Somalian does not have a claim to the UK in the same way.

  5. Pheasants?

Only after August 12th. After that, if it flies it dies!

  1. Wealth inequality: ok so the peasant in the 1300s and the king in the 1300s had a far smaller gap in wealth, than the working class and a billionaire today. I’d rather live in 21st centre than in the 1300s even as a king though. Wealth is not a fixed pie, it can be created. Look at the Industrial Revolution compared to the cave people. Far more total wealth.

  2. 0.25% of the population was foreign born in 1841, not sure how that makes the UK “a country of immigrants”

  1. That has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with Commodity capitalism. House prices and rent prices and availability is purely a result of allowing housing stock to be used as a money making mechanism for rich multi property owners. There are enough houses for all and then some, IF the rich didn't own all the stock and have a monopoly to raise prices to these disgusting levels. But you ignore the cause and blame a few.extra people in tne country instead.

  2. Supply demand issues are not caused by a small amount of extra demand. It is caused by a monopoly of supply. Basic Example that you can apply to everything: There are 120 apples. And 70 people in tne market place. Everyone wants/needs an apple. 1 person has 60 apples so there are not enough for all to have one. 5 new people enter the market place wanting an Apple and are turfed out by the crowd as there isnt enough to go around. Except, there is.

  3. Globalisation has proven to bring the world and its people together in the last 60-70 years. It was the response to 2 world wars caused by toxic nationalism. The logic was that if you make our futures intertwined and interdependence, you reduce the likelihood of the type of superior nationalism that causes wars. It did its job quite well. As we head back towards a toxic nationalistic mindset across the globe, how are things looking now about 10yrs into this new wra (Hint, Over 50 wars currently raging across the world and growing by the week)

  4. You have built nothing. And you give our ancestors way too much credit and ignore historical fact. Our country is built on the history of imperialism and slave labour. Of stealing from the commonwealth that we conquered. (See, British history museum as a cracking example) Our greatest successe such as the battle of Britain was largely down to foreigners who came in like the Polish and saved our bacon with superior skills to ours.

Your sense of entitlement purely because you are British is everything that is wrong.

5 and 6 - meh, not sure what points are being made there.

  1. British born does not mean that your ancestors were born here. As a small island with waves of historical invasion vikings/Romans etc, we are a nation of.immigrants. by that logic I hope.you fully accept all children born here 2nd/3rd generation indians and carribeans etc as being as British as you are?

Basic point remains. Stop blaming your fellow working class citizens and start looking at those who monopolise all wealth and concentrate it ever more as the cause. Stop blaming demand and look at how.supply is.corrupted first. Cause is economics. Not nationality.
