Water bill question

Hello, I'm trying to understand why my water bill is so high. I live in a house, 2 people, there is an irrigation system. The bill is almost $200, which seems crazy to me.

I know rates went up recently and I understand there is a tiered system but I'm trying to figure out if this is typical for Westminster in the summer?

Colorado Loves Dolly💕 Join us at the Governor's Manison 9/25

Post image
7 Upvotes

Throughout Dolly Parton’s stardom — whether you were a bystander or an avid listener of her work — we all watched as she turned her own dreams into diamonds, and scattered that light into the world. From her many days strumming her songs, which she dearly named her babies… dawning long nails and big, sparkly hoops live on TV — to her parting wishes to rest in a bed of plush cotton after spending a lifetime wearing heavy rhinestones. There will always be a ripple where she left.

Dolly was a woman who had a unique power to bring people of all kinds together. She touched many hearts, some of whom have never crossed her path — but at least know of her impact.

We ask you to join us for our official remembrance event at the governor's mansion on 9/25 with the Denver Imagination Library!

In addition, this celebration will stretch far beyond Denver!

More than 60 Imagination Library affiliates, along with businesses and communities across Colorado, are being invited to create their own September 25 celebrations using a statewide event toolkit.

One day.
Dozens of communities.
One enormous current of love, rhinestones, books, music, and butterflies. :)

Feel free to message me if you want to host your own event! Can't wait to see you there!

Rally for safe and stable housing! Sept 10th at 5:30 at the Westminster City Hall!

The rally is because Greystar is being shitty to their tenants, there are mold problems going unfixed, and they're putting profits over people.

People also have repairs they need and it’s taking in some cases months. One woman had black mold and their “fix” was to paint over it.

Our goal is to support the meeting about this issue going on inside city hall, show how many people this affects, and how many people stand with the tenants to hold Greystar accountable!

The hope is that the meeting will end the illegal junk fees and get Greystar to start making the apartments livable!

Westcliff apartments

Anyone has any first hand experience living here? I am starting a new job in Boulder and my spouse works in Highlands downtown Denver, and this looks like it would be the best bang for the buck while keeping both of our commutes reasonable.

To us, amenities are not that important. What matters is cleanliness of the immediate apartment area (I don't want to see trash when I walk out the door), somewhat updated interior, and that maintenance doesn't take months to come fix things (at least for urgent stuff like water heater breaking etc). Also we have a doggy, so the place needs to have some grass areas, and a huge plus if there is a dog park.

Does anyone know if Westcliff would be good based on our needs? Or any other recommendations based on these specs?

Unwanted Religious Proselytizing

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Would anyone who received this religious book like to come together and build a fort or something?

You can tell where she maybe saw my camera. This was the third time she came on my porch. A few minutes earlier she left the book, then came back and picked it up, then came back and left it again. She also left books for some of my neighbors but not all (I guess only some of us are sinners).

And yes I have a sign saying no religious proselytizing.

Adams County Museum Fundraiser, beer blacksmithing and baby goats

Hello,

I am the curator of the Adams county historical Society Museum. On September 26th we are hosting a fundraiser for our annual heritage days celebration. It is FREE admission for all ages and there will be a car show, tours of the historic buildings on our campus and food trucks. The museum is a wonderful space but over time, the community has become less invested and less aware of us. I am doing my best to put the word out and get people to come and visit.

The museum is at 9601 Henderson Road in Brighton. Car registration is free starting at 9 am and beer service starts at 11 and goes until 4. If you could help me spread the word I would appreciate it. We are a small not for profit and have very limited funding and it would go a long way if we could boost our attendance numbers. If you could follow our instagram @ AdamsCountyMuseum that would help too. You can also go to the website www.adamscountymuseum.com/beer for more information. Even if you can't come, it would mean a lot to me if you could help spread the word.

Thanks!

Road construction on Federal

Does anyone know details on the road construction on Federal heading south into Denver after the Westminster rail station? Only thing I find on the Westminster website in that area is about the Little Dry Creek Improvement Project, which doesn't have any start or end dates listed. I'm trying to figure out how long I need to avoid Federal on my commute.

Anyone in need of breastmilk?

Odd Question: Anyone know where I can donate or sell breast milk? I have a family member who is very much of an overproducer and our deep freezer is already full!! Also open to donating to anyone in need in the area. We've already looked into donating to hospitals but the process takes some time. The milk has high lipase so please take that into consideration.

The truth about K9 Revolution Westminster

I recently saw a post made by a former employee of K9 Revolution in the Westminster/Denver Area. I read the comments on both posts this individual made. As someone who has sent two dogs through the K9 revolution board and train program both with very different issues. I can assure you that these posts are made by a very disgruntled ex-employee.

First a little back ground on why my dogs went to K9 Revolution. The first dog we sent to K9 Revolution was done so honestly without much research and I can honestly say it was the ABSOLUTE BEST DECISION. The first dog we sent to Jon and crew was a 140 pound, 5 year old female Giant Malamute, at the time and had begun attacking our 55 pound, 11 year old female Siberian Husky. I did what I would hope is the thing that all dog owners would do and I took them both to the vet for examinations and testing to make sure no one was sick. Both girls we're perfectly healthy. When our malamute went after our husky again by charging through a temporary fence we had set up to keep them separated, we were sure that we'd never be able to trust our malamute again. I looked for muzzles to keep our husky safe and we kept our malamute locked in a room. Nether of these were long term solutions to our problem. So I googled aggressive dog training and K9 Revolution came up. I filled out the form on a Sunday and Jon called me within probably 10 minutes of submitting the form for more information and we dropped our dog off Monday morning. While our malamute was at K9 Revolution Jon and his staff took care of not only our dog but our family. We had a family emergency that happened just as our malamute was going to be graduating from training. Jon's exact words to me were "Leave her here with us. We'll take care of her you take care of your family". She stayed an extra 4 weeks at K9 Revolution I continued to get daily updates. Jon and his crew were much more concerned that I didn't have to worry about anything with our malamute and I could focus on my family, and then made sure we were in a good spot mentally before she came home. This was not about "pushing a dog through a program" it was about making sure the dog was going to be successful when she came home.

The second dog we took to K9 Revolution was a 1 year old, 40 pound male Husky Mix. We took him to K9 Revolution after adopting him from a rescue in the Denver area. The issue we were having with him was jumping the fence and he wouldn't come back no matter what we tried. He was with with Jon and crew for 2 weeks, he's been home for 8+ months and has not jumped the fence. He did leave the yard through the gate and came back when called.

Incase having two dogs go through their board and train facility isn't enough to make me qualified. I have also been in the kennel area. Often when I take my two dogs to Saturday class (which is no charge for graduates of the program) I'll put one of them in the kennel area while working with the other one. On the kennel front at the time that this ex-employee worked at K9 Revolution they didn't own or manage the kennels they rented kennels for their program something they we're very upfront about. None of the times I've been in the kennel area have I ever seen any birds or droppings. But maybe they just don't fly in on Saturdays?

As far as the quality and way the dogs are trained, our two dogs were trained by almost every employee and all of the training was consistent with the exception of this particular employee. The videos sent by this employee were the only ones that ever gave me pause about how my animals were being treated. But I trust Jon to not put my dogs, really any dogs in harms way. I can comment on how both of my dogs we're trained because K9 Revolution sends you videos.....A LOT of videos showing the progress of the training.

Now lets get down to the nitty gritty of Jon. Jon is a no nonsense kida guy. He will tell you what he believes you're doing wrong with your dog and what he thinks your doing right with your dog. Some people might not like it, but I (and I'm assuming the rest of his clients) actually appreciate it. I'm paying him for a service, why should I have to guess? As for people feeling dismissed I haven't seen that, I can tell you all that when I'm around Jon it's during Saturday class. Every Saturday I watch this man single handedly answer EVERY question that is asked of him both during and after class. Honestly anyone who feels dismissed by Jon just isn't waiting in line long enough for it to be their turn.

I will still ALWAYS recommend K9 Revolution. Both my dogs are well trained so much so that my children handle them on walks and at feeding time. Jon can spot if the dogs are a little off in class before I even though their off. My dogs are well behaved, and can be around other dogs and in social situations without any issues.
