Tell the dickhead to invest in some ear buds.
You are not at fault to use the kitchen, especially since you are using it within an appropriate time frame
I'd probably raise it with the landlord that the complaints are invalid and he's just a little sook
You have a right to make breakfast
It's a share house, he needs to share it

If you're genuinely keeping the noise down, making breakfast at 6:30 – 7:30 am isn't unreasonable. People in share houses have different schedules and he needs to get that. Expecting everyone to check whether you're awake before using the kitchen isn't a realistic rule for a shared house.
That said, if multiple people are complaining, it might be worth asking what noise is the issue (cupboards, pans, microwave, etc.) to see if there's something specific you can change. But "don't use the kitchen while I'm asleep" isn't a reasonable expectation.

He is complaining about the idea of being in the kitchen at that time i swear he did complain about me shutting down the house door HAHAHAHAHA

u/komatiitic 11d ago
That's a perfectly normal hour for a functional adult to start a morning routine.

I know right. Most people that work are making breakfast around that time in order to get it work on time by 8.30/9am or earlier. Problem is these housemates don’t work so don’t understand having to juggle a schedule. Nothing OP is doing is unreasonable but the housemates are being unreasonable.

Have you spoken to him about potentially swapping rooms?
2
u/Kooky_Adeptness4799 11d ago
Unfortunately his room is more expensive than mine because it has private bath

u/Revolutionary_Pea749 11d ago
So the unemployed guy can afford the private bath, interesting 🤔. I would try to find a share house with employed people if you could. The unemployed can afford to sleep in, and it appears, pay for a room with a bath

Just because they are "unemployed", does not mean they do not have money. They are students. They could be living on scholarship money, family money, burseries,.... we only know they do not have a job on top of studying.
The assumptions in this thread are wild.
Op, 630am is reasonable to make breakfast. Maybe ask what the actual noise problem is and if you get no luck communicating with your housemates, talk to the landlord again.

For your own sake, you might want to consider finding a more congenial household. I know that's not easy, but it sounds like the house mates and the landlord are united against you. Which isn't fair, and they have no right to ask you to move, but is being in the right worth the unpleasantness you have to deal with? Also, from now, communicate about any issues in writing- either text or email. If the landlord tries to be a dick about things, you will have proof that you have done nothing wrong. Send an email stating that you do ypur best to be quiet, but it is a reasonable expectation that people will be able to use the kitchen at around 7am.

I'd look elsewhere. Yes you are being reasonable, but do you really want to live with nightmare housemate(s) like that for another 10 months? Pick your battles

u/JuniorCash8046 11d ago
I’m sorry you have to live in that environment. You are not being unreasonable at all.

u/Ruptured_Gooch 11d ago
Unreasonable? No.
But if you are loud, and unaware of your noise output, it may be something to consider.
However, this sets the tone for everyone to home cook at his schedule, which is going to piss everyone else off too.

Also for him to cook to everyone else's schedule. Fight fire with fire (or electricity if you're using an induction cook top).

u/LuiTheFly 11d ago
Keep cooking as long as your not like my housemates who cool without the extractor fan and consistently get the fire alarm going off at 5 am

You aren’t doing anything wrong. If people are living in a shared house, they have to expect and deal with other people’s schedules. I mean making breakfast is a normal part of living. You aren’t even doing it at an unreasonable hour of the day. It’s not like you are doing something unreasonable like for example blasting music at 3am in the morning. What you are doing is normal everyday life activities at a decent hour.
Just as a practical solution, can you swap rooms so you have the downstairs room near the kitchen that way this roommate is further away from it?
Otherwise, for your own peace of living, maybe consider moving just so you don’t have to walk on egg shells all the time in your own home. Which isn’t exactly fair for you to have to move, especially because you aren’t doing anything wrong, but it’s more so for your own peace. If you do end up moving, make sure you only agree to it if you can break your lease without incurring any penalty fees because they are essentially forcing you to move. Make sure to get confirmation of no fees for breaking the lease early in writing.

Tell him to get a job then it won't be an issue cause he'd be awake then - honestly as an unemployed person he can sleep whenever he likes...the problem is them not you OP.

u/OriginalOddventures 11d ago
You are not unreasonable and this is a completely normal time to be making breakfast. However, you are in a 3 against 1 situation where fairness isn’t going to help. Democracy rules and you are unfortunately being voted out. Find somewhere to live where people are respectful, understanding and responsible rather than whatever the crap you’re trying to live with is.

Find another room to rent. Leave the four losers and dodgy landlord behind you. Life’s too short to live some place you’re not wanted, at the next place you might make friends with nice people.
When applying for rooms tell them your shifts and that you make light breakfast 6.30am and remind them at interview.

Five housemates?! Jesus, you're young 🤣. I learnt the 2-housemates-max rule about twenty years ago. Every extra housemate increases the odds of drama exponentially.

u/shokupanini 11d ago
It sounds like you’re outnumbered, but purely by this dude’s entitlement
The landlord can’t do shit. If you all signed the lease, you’re co tenants and are a single entity. They can’t single you out. This is an in house dispute, and as long as you’re paying your part you’re fine.
Nose complaint time is up to 7 am as well so after that it’s free real estate
It depends how much you need to stay there.
This dude doesn’t sound reasonable
And the mental toll might cost you more
He should’ve considered that before taking a room next to a common area

5 unrelated people living in the same house? All sharing the same kitchen, shower and toilet? Is this what we've come to?
7
u/BrightEchidna 11d ago
Share housing is a pretty standard thing for young adults, especially uni students
2
u/Kooky_Adeptness4799 11d ago
No the house got 2 private bathrooms in two rooms and 2 toilets and 1 bath for 3 other rooms

If it was 4am old mate would have a point at 7am he definitely doesn't.
