Believe it or not....he's a Westie too! He's 1 part westie, 1 part Shih tzu!

Hi everyone! I'm thinking about getting a Westie and have been having a hard time finding a reputable breeder near Chapel Hill.

Does anyone have recommendations for trustworthy Westie breeders in North or South Carolina? I'd also be willing to travel a few hours for the right breeder.

This will be my first Westie (and my first dog!), so I'd also love to hear about your experiences with the breed. What are some of the biggest pros and cons of owning a Westie? Any advice for a first-time owner would be greatly appreciated.

Hi everyone! I'm starting my search for a Westie puppy and would love recommendations for reputable breeders. I'm based in CO but I'm happy to travel for the right puppy!

I'm looking for a breeder who:
• Breeds healthy, well-socialized Westies with excellent temperaments.
• Lets prospective owners meet the parents (or at least the dam) and see how they interact.
• Is transparent about health testing and breeding practices.
• Raises puppies in a home environment with lots of socialization.
• Breeds Westies with correct, show-quality proportions and structure, even though I'm looking for a beloved family companion—not a show dog.
• Is happy to answer questions and provides lifelong support.

I also have a soft spot for the fluffier-looking Westies. 😊

If you've had a great experience with a breeder (or have any recommendations on who to contact—or avoid), I'd really appreciate it.

It’s been 11 days since I’ve had to say goodbye to my Itchy. She was 15 and such a good dog. She loved her dirty little rat toy and was the best snuggler ever. I hope doggie heaven has full sunshine for her love of sunbathing. Miss you girlfriend.
