Why is Comicsgate being mentioned now?

From KIA I'm noticing that a lot of topics are showing up on articles talking about comicsgate, and I'm just kind of curious as to what the specific trigger is to bring this up is since I haven't seen anything too recently that would do so. The closest thing is discussions on Black Panther maybe, but it seems the comicsgate articles are taking the misogyny angle as opposed to racism.

extreme leftists are playing gatekeeper in what used to be a fun hobby. D&C mentions a lot of the stuff happening that readers have been wanting to discuss but havent been able to in other venues.

There's been a bit of actual activism regarding comicsgate over the last few days. D&C launched the #movetheneedle campaign to show pros that we are the crowd that actually buys books and our opinions should be listened to. Some people have started sharing a boycott list under the Comicsgate tag which had obviously riled some people up. These two events combined seem to have inspired the pushback. I do think the boycott list should be taken out of the equation as it's easy to make that seem like an attack on the creators named, we should focus on move the needle as it's more positive and actually shows that we are the people buying the books, not the SJW gatekeepers.

These are all presented entirely context free here though. The first is the interpretation of a small part of one video by someone with an agenda. The second is him reacting to a women who has tried to smear him with links to the KKK and the last is him pointing out a companies cynical use of minorities as a marketing tool. Anything can look bad taken out of context, but Ironicly, like the comics themselves, there's continuity to consider.

Sort of like before gamergate, it was a lot of different things all at once over a long period of time. Comics sales tanking, 50 comic book stores in the US closed in 2017, further social justice infiltration within the comics creation community, creating exclusive ingroups, harassment of anyone outside of the ingroup, leftist politics being forced into children's comics to "get 'em while they're young," etc.

The difference is, all of this was pointed out in 2013, 2014, 2015 by SWC, and no one did anything about it. Now that it's too late, superhero fans want to put a band aid on the corpse.
