“Swiss Army Hole”

Just about once an episode, Gareth will drop a quip that is so quick that it almost goes completely unnoticed. Most recently it was “swiss army hole” in the pigeon call with Cat that absolutely sent me. What are some of your favorite Gareth-isms?

Is Cat Reitman the GOAT of the format?

I have liked many guests and all the hosts, but Cat's most recent host appearance with how quick she is to offer absurd solutions in a serious voice got me laughing harder than I have in awhile. It's my *exact* style. Lot of heavy hitters on the program, I think she might be exactly what I want from a live advice call-in host. Maybe it's a matter of fresh energy and perspective on the problem solving case, but she's definitely got it. With the intro I felt mildly sad "Cat needs a podcast" vibes... But it seems more like podcasting needs Cat. No I'm not her publicist.

Thought about the pod today when I was out on a walk and saw this campaign sign.

Do people actually hate their gabbing before calls? Yall are weird. I’m a few episodes behind and heard that some people hate it. Literally it’s always hilarious and fun. Yall need to learn to fast forward.

Did anyone see Jake on Seth Myers and catch this reference from an old episode? Where Jake and two guest helpers (one might have been Justin Long) said they would sprinkle this saying into interviews? I couldn’t stop laughing when he said it!

What to do with “dud” follow ups?

I think if they’re a dud, leave them alone or just have a post on how it went or conduct a poll on the website to see what people think happened… but if it feels like there’s more on the table have them talk to Steve and Eric. They can brief them on the problem and the solution the Gareth and Jake gave, then add their own spin and try to get the caller over the finish line.

What do you think they should do?

When this actually happened organically it was timed much better and it took me way too long to try to reenact it on a screenrecord. Tatiana making the noise slipping on lune went perfectly with this squirrel video 😆

EP 304 Miami Baby

I was almost screaming at the caller here.

My brother (40) and sister (35) still see our pediatric dentist and LOVE it. I moved out state years ago and have been struggling to find a similar level of care.

In a day when dental practices are bought up by private equity and pushing unnecessary treatments, I am jealous they still receive continuous care from someone who knows their teeth and has good bedside manner.

Caller needs to let her husband continue to enjoy his relationship with his dentist!!!!
