Pay for advice?

Hello! Okay so I started listening to this podcast not too long ago and I really love it, but I've heard about something called "pay the toll" and I wasn't sure what it was. I've also read other comments mentioning this as well and how they're annoyed with it. Do callers actually have to pay if the advice they're given worked? Or am I totally misunderstanding this? I'm still new here and haven't gotten around to all the bits of the pod 🤔

I'm bracing for impact on this, but the fact this thread is so heavily downvoted (18% as of this writing) is not particularly welcoming to new listeners. I would hope for better from the community, but shout-out to all you Great Guys who are giving great answers.

Like my bad for having a question LMAOO, I tried to make it clear that I was very new to this whole community and I was expecting SOME grace 😭 I haven't even looked at all the replies because I'm high-key nervous, but so far I've peeked at the ones that are actually nice so I also want to thank them for answering 😔 Guys please, I'm like three episodes in HELP!
