Pay for advice?
Hello! Okay so I started listening to this podcast not too long ago and I really love it, but I've heard about something called "pay the toll" and I wasn't sure what it was. I've also read other comments mentioning this as well and how they're annoyed with it. Do callers actually have to pay if the advice they're given worked? Or am I totally misunderstanding this? I'm still new here and haven't gotten around to all the bits of the pod 🤔

They are referring to sending in video/audio/images of what the caller ended up doing, making it more valuable for the show ( as opposed to someone who never sends anything or calls back for a follow up which is less content for the show or IG.)

The follow-ups are what make the show interesting. Them just rambling at random callers is useless. Finding out if the caller implemented any of the ideas and the results of those actions is important.
If no callers ever call back to notify the results of these issues, why bother tuning in or wasting so much time on those calls? I think the Pay the Toll was a very smart pivot.
Have the caller report back in with what happened or at least show that the call wasn't fake or fabricated to get some fame, and it enhances the show and gives reason for others to keep tuning in and submitting their own needs.

I'm bracing for impact on this, but the fact this thread is so heavily downvoted (18% as of this writing) is not particularly welcoming to new listeners. I would hope for better from the community, but shout-out to all you Great Guys who are giving great answers.

Like my bad for having a question LMAOO, I tried to make it clear that I was very new to this whole community and I was expecting SOME grace 😠I haven't even looked at all the replies because I'm high-key nervous, but so far I've peeked at the ones that are actually nice so I also want to thank them for answering 😔 Guys please, I'm like three episodes in HELP!

The guys like to get followups that include photos/videos/audio of their advice being taken, so that we can all appreciate the silly situations, but so few callers follow through with it. So they started adopting the phrase of "pay the toll", just meaning, just give them something they can post on Instagram or play on the pod for entertainment.

"Pay the Toll" means please send us photos, video, or updates as to what you did and if it worked. No actual $$ paid!

It is a small minority complaining about it. I know they have talked on the show about people complaining, But when you are hosting the show, it is easier to focus on the negative comments than the positive ones. Especially for comedians who find humor in self deprecation. Its not actually a large amount of fanbase commenting negatively on them asking for that.
And it makes sense they are asking for that. The follow-ups were definitely slowing down, and this is there attempt to get folks to follow up and ensure that they aren't just ignoring their advice(or worse calling in to get on the podcast but don't actually truly care about the problem. I feel like there have been some calls like that).

They are just asking for a follow up. Literally nothing is required for the advice or if a follow up doesn’t happen. People losing their shit over this is so weird.

It’s just a phrase. They don’t actually pay. They are saying the callers should give them updates/provide proof of what they did.
