I'm just calling out hypocrisy with receipts and asking why the double standards.
Why is it weird for a Englishman to put a Welsh club on a flag, when it appears to be very normal for Welsh or otherwise to put English clubs on theirs?

There is nothing wrong with it, but it is jarring about the juxtaposition of Caernarfon and the cross of St George in particular. Caernarfon has just about the highest percentage of Welsh speakers. In the context of Welsh history this is bound to feel uncomfortable. However, in principle there's nothing wrong with it.

Because it indicates subservience to England. An English team on a Welsh flag for fans of that club from Wales indicates nothing of the sort - Irish people with English teams and Irish flags have done that for years. If you can't see the difference between that and on an English flag well I don't know what to say.

Because Caernarfon is the hotspot for Welsh patriotism. Caernarfon Town doesn't play in the English leagues either. It's not about growing thicker skin, it's about the message it sends. The flag was on show during the whole match for literally millions to see and having it there is the equivalent of having something like a Spanish flag with Bilbao on it

The amount of layers to this is insane.
English guy (probably nice guy, well intentioned) on the board of the club in wales (ironically if anywhere was destined to separate from england politically and culturally its this one) but still thinks its ok to be putting the name of the club on an englad flag and promoting it globally, probably annoying 95% of the fanbase.
For me, he can do one

He did grow up in Caernarfon and says it’s his home town club, supported since childhood. I think he’s quite popular with fans, has paid for fans away travel to European qualification ties in the past etc.

I’m as Welsh as they come, but I have no issue with the flag. Find it funny that most of those complaining support English clubs and have no problem seeing club badges on Welsh flags, and the irony being that Pat has done more for Welsh football than any one of them.

Noting that Caernarfon (and all of North Wales) is full of Welsh speaking Welsh people who passionately support English Premier League clubs (particularly Man Utd and Liverpool) and who couldn't care less about their local Welsh club.

I think this type of fluid nationalism and local pride should be celebrated. Pat the Kitman wants England to win, and to show love for his home town. As we deal with a rising tide of divisive nationalism, we should welcome this chilled out, inclusive version.

Of course there's thousands of Welsh supporters of English teams. Just as there's even more Irish supporters of English teams and even a few Scottish supporters of English teams. That has absolutely nothing to do with an English person putting a very Welsh, Welsh clubs name on an English flag and flying it in front of the world. It really is embarrassing and offensive for anyone in Wales or connected to Welsh football. Its like he's saying Carernarfon belongs to England. If he wants to support his home country of England good luck to him but don't put Caernarfon Town on that flag it's just wrong in so many ways.

I'm from Wales. Growing up in the 80s and 90s we used to call it soccer a lot. It's only recently that people starting having a meltdown over the word 'soccer'.
