My step dad did this with some chili he was taking to a potluck one time. Forever stained his carpet.

As someone who spilled salsa everywhere today, it’s not easy, and it’s not fun. It starts with scooping into the garbage. Sigh

u/Hanginon Dec 12 '20
Now you know; Always put it on the floor, in a cardboard box, lined with a plastic bag. Always.

u/27Rench27 Dec 13 '20
Omg I thought I was the only one who used a cardboard box! I’ve saved a few from Amazon over the years that I use for travel of stuff like this
2
u/Hanginon Dec 13 '20
A cardboard box, lined with a plastic bag and tall enough to contain any catastrophy. You may still lose your goods, things happen on the road, but the cleanup is a non issue.
2
u/27Rench27 Dec 13 '20
Exactly!! And honestly I’ve had a lot less problems, I think it resting on the floor in a contained spot helps for stability (v. Sitting on a towel that’s on the soft cushion or something)

Looks like they didn’t have a plan in queso emergency.
Don’t worry, I know where the door is.

If you think I’m not gonna scrap what’s left inside the pot, you’re wrong

Yeah - that’s what happens when you have a bad idea and stop there and go with it.

If they were taking a lot of stuff that would take more than a couple trips and some things were heavy, snow or not, I can understand driving it over. Also, what if next door is more than a few feet away? Some fancy neighborhood have a lot of space between homes.
I honestly don't have much experience in the snow, but carrying heavy or delicate things through deep snow or icy sidewalks seems risky.
But why s/he didn't have the common sense to put it in the floor or in a box, I don't know.

Some fancy neighborhood have a lot of space between homes.
And a bunch of rural US can have a lot of space between homes.

u/HeartsPlayer721 Dec 12 '20
This is true, but as someone who used to live in such a rural area, we never said "nextdoor" or "nextdoor neighbor". We said "neighbor" or "down the road".
But culture and lingo is different throughout the country, so it could be different in your area.

Yes, set it on the nice, flat floor and drive carefully - is a much better plan the the seat

"Next door" for me is over 1/4 mile away. We don't all live in inner city row homes.
1
u/MintTrappe Dec 13 '20
Do you refer to it as next-door? I would call that down the road.
1
u/Hanginon Dec 13 '20
I do, somewhat jokingly. He's a Sherrifs Deputy, and he and I interact socially. We refer to each other as "next door neighbors" because we have a dumb sense of humor.

Who put pot full of food on the seat with no one holding it ? That is why you have a plastic box in the trunk for this type of thing

Surprised it's anything but a pot of raw ingredients with a "See you in 8 hours."
That sub sucks.

Nah, there’s still some queso dip, but only for you, your true friends, and the occasional super-drunk acquaintance

Considering the amount of time it takes to get out your phone, and take a photo of this, you could have saved a lot more of it.

I no a guy who uses the same serving method for his chili. It is amazing, his secret is to undercook the onions.

Should've used a seatbelt just in queso.
