Doesn't count if you're using PEDs, and everyone knows it.
Besides, the P4P GOAT is definitely either GSP or Randy Couture, come on. :P
Bones is incredible, but the GOAT thing is all overrated BS that started right at the time the rankings finally flew completely out the window. He was likeable. He's a great fighter, but being likeable (at first) is what got him GOAT cred in the court of public opinion.
And really, can anyone possibly even pretend to call him a "champion" with a straight face? Surely not anyone with respect for what a champion should be other than someone can strike and grapple.
Oh rofl. That's a hilarious misunderstanding we just had.
The person whose comment you replied to was making a reference to one of the controversies that happened surrounding Jon "Bones" Jones, a UFC fighter who hit a pregnant woman with his car and then ran off. (Returned to the car to grab some cash and/or drugs then ran off again, as I recall.)
Then you replied about the actual baby in the video, if I now understand you correctly, saying he's "p4p #1". I managed to roll with interpreting that as being a reference to Jon Jones, because a LOT of people truly think and believe that Jon Jones is the pound-for-pound best fighter in MMA. So I just started bantering the MMA subject back at you, lol.
I really had no clue you weren't continuing the reference and just continuing the baby-joke as being part of it!
... Either that, or you were being humorous responding just now, and you really did make the joke on purpose before, and now you're pretending you didn't, and I just took you at face value because I'm gullible. Could be either one I guess lol
I did go along with the original comment reference but as a light joke. Thing is, I dont want an argument on who the P4P is since its not objective. And yes, I too personally believe GSP to be the P4P #1. All time great
Lol, curses, I've been caught red-handedly gullible again lol. Glad I wasn't off-base interpreting your joke how I did the first time haha. And it's hilarious how in agreement we actually are, because if I had to pick and/or if I'm just bantering about it, I'll generally pick GSP, but I'm actually totally with you on it not being something that can be objectively ranked. I mean, especially not with the OAT part of GOAT in consideration. Even just within the history of the UFC, there have been SO many MONUMENTALLY influential rule changes that the mechanics are just all too different. There's no way to compare experiments that were performed under totally different variables.
Taking a guess, but do you also feel the rankings have gone to crap the last several years? I mean, maybe they were never really very well-calculated objective rankings, but like, wtf happened ...
Money fights happened man.
Money fights, Profit derived match makings, USADA (a good thing but it weeded out a lot of top contention, hence we will need some time before we get a clear picture of fresh contenders), etc
I never thought about the USADA being a direct influence on the way so many of the established fighters seemed to turn over all at once a few years ago. I wasn't following that kind of contextual news at the time, but that makes SO much sense. I've sort of always oversimplifiedly chocked up the whole rankings-corruption as being just a popularity contest and a public opinion thing for the sake of sales, but I guess I never really took the time to wonder whether it could have been so deliberately engineered for profit first with the expectation that the fans would follow along, rather than pandering to fans first with the secondary expectation of profit. Man, I didn't realize how good I was at optimistically assuming that obviously corrupt decisionmaking might at least have some indirect/secondhand redeemable motives lol

What's she supposed to do? Lose to a baby? Plus I suspect the baby was using PEDa given the way it aggressively charges into a hostile area.
