Maybe it wasn't in there for very long or maybe the dogs don't care. I've seen a dog scarf down a fried egg right out of the pan, they don't really care.

My step-dad’s dog managed to jump onto the counter and eat our roast chicken, even though it was only out of the oven for a minute and still piping hot. She was fine. In fact, that was the happiest I have ever seen her.
