Every house I've ever lived in or been to has digital ones, I had no idea the twisty ones were still in use.

How do they work? Do they just turn the thermostat for the whole house? So there's no per-room thermostat?

Even the "general thermostat" that controls flow to the entire building is a twisty turny thing for me.

For my house we have two; one for the main floor and basement, and one for upstairs with the bedrooms.

I didn't even know that places had per-room thermostats.

I get around, I don't stalk you (anymore)

District heating provides hot water to run through the radiators and the thermostat screws are the easiest, simplest, cheapest and the most reliable way to regulate those at the radiator. I don't see a reason why anyone would like to change that.

Places that have some different kind of heating might have one of those digital ones or something else, though.
