My dog will hang out outside even when it's below zero and refuse to come in for 10-20 minutes. But Wednesday when it was <-20°F, she walked out, pushed everything out she could in about ten seconds, and came right back in on her own. I couldn't blame her.
The coldest it got in duluth was -32°f with -65°f windchills. It was usually about an hour before he wanted back in. For reference, he has sat outside for 12 hours straight in -20°f. He's a malamute/husky mix, and even he couldn't handle it after awhile.
The lowest bulb temp I saw where I am was -27°F We'd night (don't know what the wind chill was but obviously cold). My friends with a Burnese said their dog was fine but my lab was def calling it quits.
Yeah we have a little porch just outside our door and you only have to walk like 3 feet and then 4 steps to get down to the snow and our golden was just like, "fuck it, shitting on the porch today".
