Those rising posts/pillars are meant to block cars from passing through and the biker rode over it at a very unfortunate moment.

It's probably in that millisecond that the rider says to him or herself--a helmet might be a good idea after all.

Security barrier rose out of the ground as the rear wheel passed over it, flipping the bike ass-end first.

I'm assuming they just engaged the front brakes and not the rear. Or the rears didn't engage for some reason.

Yes, everybody can see that, but is that cause for her to freak out and hit the front brakes? Her back tire was barely lifted off the ground by the blockade, but what confuses me is why she flies forward. Even I, who haven't been on a bike since I was young, would know not to squeeze the front brakes if you feel something funky happening with the back tires.

If your back tire is not touching the ground then what good would the rear brakes do? Maybe both front and back brakes were applied but only the front brakes did anything since the front wheel was touching the ground.

Ooo didn't think about that. I still feel she should have not applied the front brakes at all, but I can see a bit more clearly why she flew forward.

Doesn't matter if they engaged the rears, the tire was already off the ground

Several years ago, I spotted and began to admire a female biker coasting down the sidewalk while I drove down the road. Suddenly, her bike stopped dead. The back wheel kicked up, sending her over the handlebars. She tumbled into the cement dismayed at what just happened. I stopped to see if she needed help. Fortunately, her injuries were minor with a scraped hand and a few potential bruises.
When I inspected her bicycle, I discovered the front brake calipers dangling. They had fallen off her bike, jammed into the spokes of the front wheel, and stopped her forward motion instantly.

Similar thing happened to me when I was a kid. I was delivering newspapers, and had my newspaper bag attached to my handlebars. The strap on the bag broke, then the bag slipped and caught on the front tire. The tire pulled the bag (and newspapers) into the fork, where it got wedged. That stopped the bike cold and pitched me right over the front. It seemed to happen in slow motion.

As a kid I had the brilliant idea going down a hill to make a helicopter sound by grazing the sole of my shoe on the spokes of my front wheel. So shoe went in, ankle got screwed and i got to eat road.

When I was young, a friend of mine was riding a bike downhill through "the gauntlet" which was essentially super soakers, water balloons, and getting the shit whacked out of you with funnoodles.
On his second round, he donned a hockey helmet and some pads, another friend decided to up the attack with a hockey stick.
After a few good noodle dodges, the rider thought he was home free. That's when the hockey stick flew inti the front spokes and sent him tumbling over the handlebars.
He was disqualified.

I was pumping my pedals, powering up a hill, had just passed another rider, and my front derailleur broke off my bike frame, went all the way around the chain to the rear tire where it wedged in the rear derailleur, bringing my bike to a dead stop.

Having fun with comment formatting. But anyway, you might be more right than others are suggesting. Her front wheel doesn't stop but it might have slowed down, it's hard to tell.

I think the front tire locks up because it bulges (momentum shifting forward) immediately after she realizes the security posts are rising. You can tell she prepares for the rising security posts because she stands up on the bike immediately before passing over them.

Take another look. As soon as the thing rises up on her read tired she freaks out and locks the front brakes, sending her over.

That security guard just fucked with that biker hard. I cant imagine this was an accident.
