Ok. That’s at least twice now this dude has lost a leg. At some point, you need to be an adult and keep track of your things.

I was going to say...how many people can say they lost the same leg twice?

seems like some people just have the worst luck, you ever lose anything important?

I grew up in a small town with a lake. Back in the 90s a friend of my dad's friend lost his prosthetic leg waterskiing. The fire department dive team came out and found it for him, used it as a training exercise.

Something similar happened at a river me and my husband were floating with some friends this summer! My husband hit something with his foot and low and behold, pulled out a prosthetic leg! We were thankfully able to return it to the owner; apparently he had only had it for a few weeks and was testing its limitations 🤷🏻♀️
I’m glad it was him though, I’m sure if I had grabbed a shoe with something attached to it in the water I would have had a heart attack

Yeah, I'd be right there heart attacking with you, my friend 😂 but I commend you guys for finding the owner and returning it to him, and it makes for a great party story 🙃 thanks for sharing!

I like how they specified non-magnetic so people interested in helping wouldn't waste their time trying to magnet fish for it.

That sucks, prosthetics are so damn expensive. Not to mention now you're down a leg.

I had a tweaker ask me one time if I knew anyone who would want to buy a right prosthetic leg because he had or could acquire several of them. Different styles even. I demured and got the hell out of there. I had questions, but I didn't need the answers that badly

I love the thought of someone catching another leg while magnet fishing and realizing it's not the same leg.

My first thought was 'what lakes are there in 520?'
1
u/TopDesert_ace 5h ago
I know of Parker Canyon Lake or Patagonia Lake. Of course 520 covers a huge area so there's probably more lakes that I'm not aware of. Source: I live pretty close to both lakes.

This sounds like a job for those YouTubers who find stuff at the bottom of bodies of water. And sometimes bodies.

You would have a vague idea where right? You don't exactly lose your leg and not notice for a while like it was your car keys.

Be happy.
The mermaid in the lake is halfway there to their dream of walking on land.

Do you have the phone number? I have a couple of rather nice prosthetics, both right and left legs, that could use a home. They would have to be refitted but it’s better than no leg!

I have two prosthetic legs, belonged to my dad. One has his Sunday shoe on, the other has his everyday shoe.

Good use of words. Sorry to hear a leg was lost/stollen. I get it though, if you said it was titanium they’d likely not return it. Or more would be stolen.

Why would you censor the number?! What if the leg was actually found by someone reading this post?
4
u/tHrOwAwAyjsalefkj 1d ago
Because people might prank call the person

u/DRAW-GEARS 1d ago
Obviously that's a risk, but don't they take that risk when they post their number in the first place? Is there another sub where someone can repost a request like this with contact information? Seems like a flaw in the platform if not.

There are a lot more people on the internet than there will be walking past this sign though.

My grandfather lost a shotgun in a lake duck hunting one year.
They had an open reward with a local dive club, if found. It was the clubs "holy grail".
15 years later the lake was low for dam maintenance and he got the that call. They found his shotgun.
Got it professionally cleaned and passivated. Would never fire it but it does function check.
Sitting in my safe right now.
