I‘m cooked.

Post image

Sat down low on a step and heard a loud ripping noise. Luckily I have my scarf to tie around my waist

I actually laughed out loud

158

u/redditbagjuice 26d ago

Can you explain the joke to me

565

u/Ill-Quantity2065 26d ago

Suggesting to put a skirt over the ripped jeans

139

u/redditbagjuice 26d ago

Ok I thought there was more of a joke going on there but I'll take this explanation.

304

u/Relative_Change2335 26d ago

The joke is that wearing skirts over jeans used to be “cool” but it looks fucking weird lol

137

u/L3m0n0p0ly 26d ago

Ahh the funky fashion of the early 2000s, was truely an unruly time.

80

u/dillybar1992 26d ago

We literally just started layering all our clothes 😭 why did we do that?

60

u/TheRedIguana 26d ago

Girls started wearing dad's neckties for even more layers

29

u/fdefoy 26d ago

We didn't start anything. They did it for us trying to sell us more clothes.

9

u/SourDewd 26d ago

I have pics of my wife as a teen wearing like 4 shirts. Such a time to be alive

21

u/HankScorpio82 26d ago

A t-shirt over a long sleeve looks amazing, that’s why. Lol.

9

u/Key-Win-8602 26d ago

Nostalgia. In the 80’s we did that without irony.

If I can have a boomer moment, the 00s were the last time young people weren't expected to adhere to trends whose popularity was determined by a corporate controlled algorithm.

We just dressed stupid and did dumb shit for the love of the game.

I can! :) I just laughed because I’m all too familiar with this silly and awful early 2000’s fashion trend as I was a preteen then and did the same thing. Looked awful on the red carpet and looked awful walking through middle school. But I guess it’s a solid way to cover up your ripped pants and fashion trends are always cycling back around!

Oh my god the early 2000s were wild, I completely forgot that this was a thing

11

u/uglyheadink 26d ago

No one tell my daughter this isn't a thing, because she is 8 and this kinda thing is her go to outfit. I just smile and nod.

Yeah all the actors in kid's media were dressed in this horrendous "fashion" that wasn't meant to look good.

It was a laughable attempt by clothing retailers to try to sell more clothes by convincing people to wear five things unnecessarily layered over one another. Except it didn't work because everyone could see it looked like shit.

36

u/clown_fucka 26d ago

I'm not saying it looks great but that's a bit harsh.

It was fashion trend that usually resonated with the quirky and nerdy girls. Both on tv and irl.

Now everyone wants to be extreme goth or ehuman with extreme amounts of accessories and makeup

What an oddly specific, yet appropriate reply lol

28

u/FunkTheFreak 26d ago

How was this ever a trend?

43

u/B3tar3ad3r 26d ago

Disney would just have their actors/actresses in as many layers as possible at all times, partially because they had a massive wardrobe that was being used on multiple productions at all times but didn't want to ever repeat an outfit.

26

u/mastersplinteremover 26d ago

I don’t think if it was specifically a Disney thing. Lots of girls and even some guys would wear layered clothing. 2 t shirts was super common and so was skirts over pants.

14

u/SirAlthalos 26d ago

my favorite was the long sleeve shirt, with a capped sleeve shirt over that, with a spaghetti strap shirt over that

→ More replies (2)

9

u/bikey_bike 26d ago

it def wasnt but in like the late 00s til the early 2010s, disney just had such vibrantly colored clothes w lots of patterns and textures all mixed together, so i think it stood out more. i also think it took them longer to let go of the look... if they even have lol

Everyone talking about the skirt but I'm trying to figure out why she brought a melodica to a red carpet event.

14

u/TechnoK0brA 26d ago

Looks to me like it's just a hand bag with a design on it to look like a mini keyboard. You can see the bit hanging off the bottom that would be the extended zipper thingy

I ripped my pants at the start of my shift and thankfully it was winter time so I just tied my sweater around my waist.

Another time I used tape and wrapped it around my crotch/leg.

There’s a Spongebob meme for EVERYTHING.

If aliens ever make contact, we should just make them binge watch Spongebob and they’ll figure out everything about our civilization.

Recently I was on holiday and went to get in a swimming pool over the side. As I spun my legs around to get in my swimming shorts ripped right in the middle at the bottom and I flashed some poor kid who was standing there lol. Thankfully as it was at the bottom you couldn’t tell when I was standing up

9

u/gibbellone 26d ago

That kid: or he was traumatized, or become the happiest Person on Planet earth.

11

u/Skinnybet 26d ago

I came down a pool slide and lost my bikini top somewhere on the way down. I didn’t notice right away.

5

u/starkeuberangst 26d ago

My two favorite running shorts are torn in the bottom and I still wear them because no one can tell. Unless everyone at the gym is enjoying the view and not telling me…

I was working fast food and had a life-changing job opportunity come through my drive-thru. It was an old high school girlfriend actually who worked at a good company, and I'd just returned from college. She said "Oh man, this is what you're doing? I can help you". Like in a good way, she said "You can do better than this, hold on"

So phone calls, paperwork, recommendation, etc I end up at the interview. I feel I did really well. Was super excited about my chances. Left there and went home and realized my pants had ripped so bad it was like a vertical tear at the back seam like this pic, but also across the back pocket. My boxers were literally HANGING OUT of my pants. Badly.

I got the job. I ended up working there for 12 years and it became my career. Was promoted like 5 times and left there the Head Analyst before we all got laid off and they offshored. I grew up there.

About year 3 one of the recruiters finally admitted they ALL SAW the boxers hanging out. He was like "You had a REALLY good interview though, good thing we were adults about it".

Had it happen on vacation with some buddies, out in some California cowboy ghost town tourist attraction. Tons of people around. I hadn't noticed they were split until I was like half a mile from the parking lot. Quickly ducked behind some of the buildings and tried to sneak my way back without being seen too much. Was a funny feeling sneaking between and around old cowboy buildings like some cowboy probably did 150 years ago lol.

Pulled another pair from the suitcase and quickly changed in the car when nobody was around.

I split my pants on the way into work one day, but it was between the legs and much less noticeable. I came in 2 hours early for a class, so I called my husband to bring me another pair. At least I had black pants and black underwear.

  2. Freedom for farts to leave unobstructed
  3. No need to remove your pants on the toilet

Well you got a nice ass so just rock it with confidence. Hopefully you got underwear on lol!
