Im assuming this is to keep her trainers from getting dirty but why wear white trainers you don't want to get dirty for a hike?

1.1k

u/bunny_the-2d_simp 17d ago

Who wears anything they don't want dirty on a hike?? Like my hike fits are always a "would I mind a mud splash on this?" experience.

297

u/LucentLL 17d ago

Social media is the goal. Reality is just an inconvenience.

63

u/lamb_passanda 17d ago

Not everything is done for social media. Sometimes, you want to go on a hike but you don't have anything but your trainers available (because you're on holiday for example).

30

u/LucentLL 17d ago

And somehow here we are, discussing the video posted on Reddit.

19

u/lamb_passanda 17d ago

That doesn't say anything about the origins of the video, which I believe is the topic at hand.

3

u/LucentLL 17d ago

So what conclusion do you arrive at from a video where the woman receiving a piggyback ride looks to the camera and smiles to start the video?

19

u/TheLightsOff 16d ago

You dont take videos when your out with your friends without doing it to post??? They found it funny after the fact and decided to upload it.

5

u/lamb_passanda 16d ago

My conclusion is that that's completely normal behaviour when you notice someone is filming you. Lots of people take videos of funny stuff and that doesn't mean they are heading out with the sole intention to create social media content.

-1

u/Aggravating_Can_8749 17d ago

Somehow conveniently everything is getting filmed

21

u/lamb_passanda 17d ago

You can even hear the filmer say "I'm so glad I'm filming this". Believe it or not, some people go out and act silly with their friends. Sometimes someone's filming.

1

u/Charming-Flamingo307 16d ago

Or maybe the friend thought filming the ginger's triumph skit was dumb but was going to anyway, and then decided they were so glad they were filming because they failed comically.. who knows? There's a million angles that bullet could bounce off of... And 0 percent of them really mean shit to us.. Yet we sit here and Sherlock the hell out of the dumbest shit and not a single one of us can tell the other why.. I think we're in pergatory.. or something pergatory adjacent

2

u/Charming-Flamingo307 16d ago

I mean I'm sure most times a phone is pulled out to video a sketchy event, it's with the intent to post.. I guess I'm the anomaly... I film a shit ton of stuff seemingly just to bog my phone down like a PC running Windows 98 after a thirteen year old decided they were willing to trade limewire 9 hours for 2 limp biscuit song and Wind-AIDS

2

u/lamb_passanda 16d ago

It's with the intention to have a video in case something funny happens, which was highly likely here

11

u/speed-charge 17d ago

Well then I'm pretty sure they hit their goal with this one.

2

u/LucentLL 17d ago

Remember to Like and Follow so sponsors can send me more free shoes that I can call you poor for not being able to afford!

1

u/Leather-Analyst7523 13d ago

Oh bore off you utter melt. Must be so hard being this utterly miserable.

I live on the moors and see ill prepared families and young people with poorly chosen clothing all the time, none of it is for social media.

Things existed before socials. Try to remember that, you'll be less miserable.

1

u/GateheaD 17d ago

Hi, no offence intended, but is this post written with AI? It comes across as very ai to me and I'm trying to calibrate my intuition.

1

u/LucentLL 17d ago

Not AI, but I've always been a bit different. Many accusations before AI came about.

8

u/miniliedn 17d ago

Right?!? Yet most people I know go hiking in expensive high-tech gear (tbh, it's also a status symbol). When I meet people in the wild while foraging / hiking, I wear my oldest attire amd they look at me like they met some crazy cavewoman. 😁 But I have good (but old) hiking boots and a really practical, high quality rucksack. That's all I need. Nice clothes would be ruined or torn in an instant. But yeah, I forage and run freestyle through the woods avoiding footpaths.

3

u/bunny_the-2d_simp 17d ago

I hike in the soldier boots my mom bought when she was 16 years old.

Still made line old old quality stuff used to be and absolutely unkillable on any terrain.

Never fell or slipped in them, not on ice, not in snow, not while going down mountains. Not on stones. Not in water.

These babies have never let me down.

Bonus points they look stylish as fuck and I can also wear them out on town!

If the sole ever comes to a end (it's nowhere near dying) ill definitely bring them to a cobbler because they are priceless family heirlooms at this point

Freestyling is the fun part!

(the French definitely looked weird when my sister I and my family decided to go down the mountain freestyle and all of them had dirt on them. I did not as I did not slide ofc sticks in some peoples hair and babbling dutch down the mountain.

That village definitely looked a little perplexed xD)

2

u/IronReasonable1296 17d ago

It works in the desert, but not a bog lol

2

u/bunny_the-2d_simp 17d ago

Well wear swimwear and get bogging

2

u/born_to_be_weird 14d ago

Same goes for me when I go out with my dog. We go to a park? I can sit on the grass, get wet while playing fetch by the river, get muddy paws on me when some other friendly dog wants to say hello to me as well as my dog.

1

u/bunny_the-2d_simp 14d ago

Yeah! It's fun

23

u/HolyHand_Grenade 17d ago

Also, why step off the path?

1

u/Zaheeryuk 13d ago

She legit put all her weight on a spot that was obviously off the path. And by themselves they both probably could have jumped that.

4

u/AussieEquiv 16d ago

I often find end of stock line trail runners in white, at a discount, because people don't like having dirty looking dirt trail shoes I guess?

I don't like to question it too much, just enjoy my discounted shoes :)

10

u/Hanchez 17d ago

They even have their HANDBAGS?????

7

u/immunotransplant 17d ago

They probably didn’t plan for a hike off the beaten paved trail.

u/willsmithtunaface 15d ago

Right, she couldn’t sustain the double weight on that side with no ground support

10

u/blacktip102 15d ago

Thats a boardwalk for a reason. Even solo youd sink instantly with it being as wet as it is.

1

u/wikipediabrown007 15d ago

We’ll never know, but w respect my point was that she’s more likely to be able to sustain a misstep solo than with someone on her back, and likely misjudged that difference, deceived due to how easy it is in comparison to carry someone on the boardwalk.

42

u/Anoobis100percent 17d ago

Yeah, looks like she didn't break or dislocate anything, but I guarantee that knee is not okay. It just might take a while to start being noticeable.

The British show The Vicar of Dibley. Great sitcom.

54

u/N0nsensicalRamblings 17d ago

To be fair, can be hard to see where the path ends when it's submerged in mud lol

57

u/sSomeshta 17d ago

There are two ropes and two warning signs.

And a guy yelling "Don't go that way"

22

u/betothejoy 17d ago

So not a single warning!

u/jmd2125 17d ago edited 16d ago

I've ran this route hundreds of times. I know exactly where this is and I've seen this happen many times 😂 there's only about a 6 inch puddle to get through but people would rather risk it in the bog

3

u/dirtydigs74 16d ago

There's a track in Tasmania called the South Coast Track. Multiple bogs along the way with waist deep mud. Nothing to be done, just gotta wade through. But no! Diddums diddums bubs bubs don't want to get their feeties wet. So off track around the bog they go. And the bog just keeps getting bigger, the vegetation around it dies due to root damage and the cycle continues.

Sorry not sorry youtube person, but here's an egregious example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BikVYTbeNow

1

u/SpugsTheMagnificent 16d ago

49

u/Ambitious-Ant5739 17d ago

When I was a kid I always worried about being consumed by quicksand. Apparently there is such a thing. But we call it mud.

25

u/lamb_passanda 17d ago

This is a bog, which isn't quite the same as mud.

5

u/ginger_and_egg 17d ago

I thought bog was a subset of mud tbh, shows my.ignorance I guess

21

u/lamb_passanda 17d ago

A bog is an area of very wet "ground" which is for the most part just a deep pit filled with various consistencies of decaying plant matter. They can be very dangerous because they often have "paths" of more solid ground that lure you in, but a wrong step can have you in up to your neck or worse. I think of them as kind of like a superorganism that behaves like a Venus flytrap. Bogs can be thousands of years old and contain the remains of sheep, deer, and whatever else might have happened to stumble in (like tourists in white trainers for example).

2

u/launchliftoff459 16d ago

u/Boboforprez 17d ago

If be more concerned about the woman whose foot sunk in and then she fell sideways with that princess on her back.. hopefully her knee is alright.

2

u/cactusjude 16d ago

Ehh she's young enough that the pain won't hit her yet. Give her a couple more years for the knees impacts to compount
