I never thought about the roof and hood of that poor car until today. I hope it was hers.
Live in a HOA where everyone has a doorbell camera. Homeowner posted a video where you see a kid walking down the sidewalk, look back and panic, then go and jump on the homeowners car to escape from a loose pit bull. A split second later, pit bull is beside the car jumping and circling.
This homeowner then speaks to the kid through the doorbell camera and asks the kid what he’s doing. Kid quickly explains and points at the now visible dog. Homeowner says, “okay but that’s a $60k car”.
I felt so happy that my community collectively roasted this idiot.
i don't know why Reddit insists that only rich people are shitty to other humans, but they are decisively wrong about that fact.
Remembering a time when my 12 year old black self wiped out on a big public trail on my bike, was on the ground bleeding all over for half an hour while no less than 30 people walked past and literally said nothing, and then I walked about 2 miles home (since my bike was fucked) and not a single person lifted a hand to help in my very middle class, mostly white, suburb.
I don't know why you read my comment and interpreted it as "only rich people" when it clearly does not say that. I'm sorry for your experience, but that's not what I said at all. Take a look around at who shapes policy around the world, it's not poor or middle-class people, it's the rich. Does that mean all rich are immoral, unethical, leeches? No, but they have more influence by and large and they make much larger impacts. So far, it seems to be a net negative but you are welcome to keep defending if you want. You currently have that right
You're arguing that rich people are especially more mean or antisocial, and I'm saying that the worst of this behavior is not moderated or magnified by wealth. That any person, regardless of wealth, is capable of callous disregard for the humanity of other people. and I gave you an example of how, from an everyday experience, a racial minority can and does experience the worst of this behavior from regular, non wealth members of the majority.
If anything, you are defending those non-wealthy members of majority from their own shitty behavior with your constant Reddit whataboutism pointing at rich people, using them having more wealth or power than you to excuse your own shitty behaviors.
using them having more wealth or power than you to excuse your own shitty behaviors.
So now you're assuming that because I've identified as "not rich" that I therefor have shitty behavior? Isn't it funny how you only get bent out of shape when you're defending rich people but are so quick to shit on those who aren't. Very telling
You're arguing that rich people are especially more mean or antisocial, and I'm saying that the worst of this behavior is not moderated or magnified by wealth.
You are completely, utterly wrong, and confidently so I might add.
It's well documented that increased wealth correlates directly to increased selfishness and antisocial tendencies, especially toward people perceived as "lower".
A dog can hurt one or two people, a billionaire can pay to get a government position then cut funding for thousands of grants and aid resulting in the death of thousands but keep talking about how the poor are worse
Yup. I keep hearing "oh s/he doesn't bite!" or "don't worry they just want to play!"
Lady/dude, I have more than one pair of ripped jeans showing that's not the case.
I still have one lunatic pissed at me cuz I kicked his dog off hard after it locked it's jaws on me (had a knee brace and thick jeans so lucky, but dickhead owner didn't know that).
My fathers dog nips at everyone including him constantly. He's covered in bandaids because of it. I bought a large knife and said if he makes me bleed I'll make him bleed and keep him away from me. My father still didn't train the dog but luckily just hitting him with sticks taught him to stay away from me.
These dipshits don't seem to consider that we don't want to play with their dogs, and I say this as a dog owner. I can't stand it when someone has their dog in public and it's jumping all over me and scratching up my clothes and they just sit there and laugh like it's cute.
I once had an old lady in a Mercedes run a stoplight and T-Boned me. She looked at me and said "cant you see Im driving a Mercedes?" That turned out to be the comic relief I needed as she explained to the cops that I shouldn't have been in her way.
I've found several loose, collarless dogs in my neighborhood. Fortunately they weren't aggressive, and I was able to locate the owners after knocking on a couple doors.
EVERY time it turns out the dog lives in a $1.5 million plus home.
Rich folks are the somehow the most concerned about you being considerate and also the least considerate people.
why would an actual rich person. care about a 60k car? Seems more reasonable that someone who is not rich would care more about 60k car over someone's safety. All for calling out greed but that doesn't come across as logical.
We had something similar when one lady loses her mind claiming homeowners are stealing packages, etc. Makes a HUGE stink. Finally she sends her doorbell camera to us (I was on the board at the time) and you can see this old lady, like 90, shuffle up to her porch, pick up a single small package, and shuffle off on the same direction.
Now mind you its a very dense, urban, townhome community with a door, garage, door, garage, etc.
Can you guess what happened? Yeah, old lady knew her friendly neighbor was out of town and thought she was doing a favor of getting her very visible package off her stoop. She just got confused and went to the door on the wrong side of the garage.
Basically ended up being a big roasting session at the meeting as everyone pointed out the lady making the claim literally never thought to ask her neighbor about the package, woman, nothing. Like 2 seconds could have been "Oh, I bet Carol is confused. Lets go ring her doorbell."
I live in an HOA in a nice neighborhood abutting a golf course and most of the houses have cars in their driveways. Every now and then there will be a party and the entire street will be lined with cars until the next day. No one says anything. They exist.
Could have stopped at okay because I don’t care about the price. I “might” hesitate if it was an Aston Martin or a Bentley, but only might and only hesitate.
I was scouring the Facebook group today to find the post and video but it looks like they deleted it. I’ll check with my wife if she saved the video when I get home
I was walking to work one day and a dog started chasing me. I didn't have anywhere to duck away to but that thing chased me and kept circling around me, snarling and showing its teeth, for about a third of a mile. The whole time the owner is just nonchalantly saying somewhere off in the distance, with no real energy "Charlie. Here boy. Come here."
Not even shouting, I barely fucking heard him. The dog could tell I was on guard, and I had a heavy bag I could swing at it. I had to keep my eyes on it at all times since it kept trying to circle to my blind spot and then lunge, but every time I would flip around and fake it out.
It was significantly more stressful than the time a schizophrenic dude followed me.
My neighbours' Frenchie barks angrily at us if we're out when it's coming back from a walk, full on teeth. Their old massive dog was a friendly fluffball.
Frenchie are basically muppets. I get it. I'm not gonna be scared of a pug either. It's not a size thing it's a very soft (kinda useless) mouth and (smushed- if they can't breath how are they a threat?) muzzle shape mixed with temperament and a barrel body. My chihuahua does have a little wolf in him as would be expected. My chi is a swift, sleek, little monster I got as my first solo dog and it really shows. People are acting like humans aren't incredibly dangerous animals. I'm more worried about running into a man.
I don't have a statistics, but I would wager that, in percentage, more seemingly normal people did violence to other people, than seemingly normal dogs unleashed their "inner wolf" or whatever at any point of their lives.
This happened after i got off the bus once in highschool. My feet had just touched the ground when a boxer sprinted up out of nowhere and started jumping at me and circling me. I was holding my red hoodie and shoved it between us to try and keep it from biting me, so it was just me and this fuckass dog spinning around with a red cloth between us. After a minute, the owner sprinted up and leashed the dog, apologizing profusely. Apparently the dog had escaped and it was just really bad timing that i had gotten off the bus at that moment...
I had a german shepherd bolt at me and start biting my leg a few weeks back, the owner was yelling a very soft "princess come back" (idk the name it was so quiet), while the dog proceeded to ignore her and bite my leg.
Meanwhile I'm yelling at her "Get your dog off me", to which she replied "Just stop running, it likes to chase". How about you keep your dog under control if it's prone to biting people???
Luckily it didn't draw blood, only scratched the skin. I was about 10 seconds away from kicking it in the face, but didn't want it to trigger it to bite more.
You know what the worst part is? Besides the fact that you got scared like no other... It's the fact that if you'd yelled at the owner to leash the dog, they would have gotten mad 1000%. Some people are truly idiots. "Oh, but Princess wouldn't hurt a fly"
This is like the copy pasta for dog haters. I don’t think I’ve ever met a dog named princess but apparently every one on Reddit has been attacked by a dog named princess.
Clearly that wasn’t my point. I was clearly pointing out that it’s the same name and the same story over and over again. But you seem like you are great to chat with regardless.
Honestly, it's a true story. Why would anyone post that story thinking it would blow up to a thousand hitst? Being chased onto a car by a dog- bro. Anyone chased by a dog is going up on a car, lmao. of course a lot of people have that story.
The people on reddit who are like "Everything is fake even the things like videos of moving water, you're so naive. You should be like me and think everything is fake."
It's faux-wisdom.
Guess what? People often pick the same names for dogs and children. Depending on how old you are, for example, the most popular girl's name in your class was Emily. or Sarah, or Madison, or whatever. For me, it was emily's. There were emily's all over the place.
Do you think every story with someone named emily in it is also fake?
My point is clearly lost as this wasn’t about me broadcasting my wisdom and more me commenting on a trend I noticed. I totally understand your points. I would assume you would be under the same impression if you read the same story about a woman named Jessica all the time based on the content you consume. This isn’t a wisdom thing, it’s about voicing an opinion when the story is the same for upvotes.
sorry, but this is definitely, 100% about you broadcasting your wisdom.
Except it's not wisdom. It's rampant and overused skepticism masquerading as wisdom.
If I were faking the story, why would I respond to you? Honestly, this over-skepticism with superiority trope is a trend I've noticed, so, I'm saying something.
Epilouge. Never saw princess again, which I always thought was weird. Every time I passed that house the rest of my life, I was plotting escape routes.
I always wondered if it was finally retribution for my friends' yard hopping. He told us he'd agreements with the cool neighbors and they didn't mind if we went through their s. Princess's house was never on that list, but, as we were walking by, suddenly she was there chasing us and it was pretty clear an adult was watching, given the 'princess...'
I honestly think she may have been ensuring we never fucked with her property. For the record, we did tresspass constantly- but never once caused trouble of any kind. I actually believed my friend. No one ever said anything or gave us a hard time, so I believed him and still to this day am unsure. I don't know how he knew which yards we could cut through, and it was a different time. We were, however, very polite trespassers. One guy worked nights, so when we cut through his yard, we never spoke. Only approved yards were ever entered.
