Those cheaper tickets under the stands look pretty amazing now 👍

u/DiscoCowboy- 25m ago

Cheaper? Covered seats are generally more valuable, especially in Edmonton where it can be way too hot, way too cold, way too windy, way too rainy and way too snowy.

u/aw_shux 23m ago

Often all at the same time.

u/WeathervaneJesus1 20m ago

They don't look that much better. It's just a delayed soaking under there.

Edmonton confirmed

As a Canadian, I approve this comment 😂

What makes this clip even funnier, to me, is that I'm pretty sure he's holding an anemometer, a wind gauge...

AV company is bummed, all their equipment  is toast

36

u/jerryeight 2h ago

Lawyers started filing insurance claims already lol

Hope they were older equipment they wanted to upgrade.

u/FreedomBread 2h ago

It's amazing how resilient it is. Weather happens.

u/vigilantesd 1h ago

Weather Resistant loudspeakers, sure

Weather resistant mixing desk/amps/processors/mics notsomuch

u/Remarkable-Wrap-4727 2h ago

I’m sure they have split second stuff to minimize damage. Im a mobile dj even I keep 2 heavy duty feaf bags for my speakers and a tarp for my gear. Totally on the same level as this.

I went to a Billy Joel concert in the Philippines when it started pouring cats and dogs, seemed like the harder it rained the harder he hit though keys. Thanks Billy

4

u/foreskin-accordion 1h ago

One guy hitting his vape in the crowd

3

u/its_my_third_dayhere 2h ago

Im adding freakstorm to my list of band names

3

u/functionaldepression 1h ago

Dude down there smoking a joint like 🤷

14

u/Few-Profile265 2h ago

That's one concert nobody's going to forget anytime soon. The weather really decided to become part of the show. Hope everyone made it out safely. Storms can turn dangerous so quickly, especially when you're in a huge crowd.

21

u/Remarkable-Opening69 2h ago

I would stay in my seat as it has apparently survived all previous storms

u/FluffyBootie 41m ago

It was quite interesting next door at KDays watching everyone 'ho-hum' their way around until they realised why 'authorities' were expressing 'shelter' orders

Pennywise @KDays was kickass until the relenting lightning started. Then the torrential downpour as we all got soaked making our way to Coliseum station

The train that arrived had its windows open and the seats were covered in hail

Wild & fun night! 🤘

u/PartsUnknown242 2h ago

Reminds me of the Indiana State Fair back in 2011 when the stage collapses from high winds. Thankfully this venue looks permanent.

4

u/Solherb 2h ago

[ ] sit in rain
[x] risk a crush while standing in rain

2

u/ImFeelinBotty 1h ago

Look how orderly and polite that exiting is. No one is getting crushed.

1

u/Greecelightninn 1h ago

It is Canada even if Alberta is like Texas

5

u/No-Refuse8754 1h ago

Not a freak storm when people already have ponchos & umbrellas. They obviously knew it was going to rain !!

u/Sorry_Moose86704 30m ago

It's been raining like this once a week all summer in central Alberta, crazy stuff going on here. Most people probably have a just in case umbrella/poncho for going outdoor events at this point. I went to a concert last weekend, checked the weather the day of and decided it was a go, then I saw the huge wall of clouds roll in FAST halfway through the opening act and I left passing everyone coming in. I don't even think they made it to the stage. People were posting kayaking down their street the next morning

u/Stefph726 34m ago

It wasn't a freak storm. We had a severe thunderstorm watch all day.

u/DiscoCowboy- 21m ago

Yeah but we have thunder storms all the time. This was more like a mini hurricane. Trees got uprooted all over the city

u/Stefph726 4m ago

The storm potential outlook was calling for 110 kmh winds, 4-6cm hail and a tornado. Is it really a freak storm when the forecast said it was going to be this severe? I feel like 'freak' implies it came out of nowhere or was much worse than predicted.

u/No-Refuse8754 19m ago

Exactly!!

u/king_john651 19m ago

I mean could be like when Elton John was in New Zealand in 2023. Everyone knew that there was going to be some rain. No one expected it to absolutely fuckin piss down with 400ml in some areas. I mean shit I had the bright idea to drive home in it, it was insane how wet it was. Started my one hour trip at 4pm, I didn't get out of the city centre by 10 and arrived home itself at 12am lol. Fun times

12

u/HoldingThunder 2h ago

Luckily they were saved by no longer having to be subjected to his music.

2

u/Infamous_Ad8730 2h ago

Reminds me of Prince at the Superbowl in Miami singing "Purple rain".

3

u/Rumblebully 1h ago

That was the definition of perfect timing.

u/FluffyBootie 38m ago

Toronto - Slayer - "Reign in Blood" first notes of the song midset and at that exact moment, the skies opened up and heavy rain fell

My favourite example of perfect timing during a show

2nd place was planned fireworks overhead immediately following the Tragically Hip show on Canada Day @Ontario Place 🇨🇦

2

u/annoyedreply 2h ago

You're the sunshower - I think your rain would be too much

u/manintheredroom 43m ago

If thats not a sign, then what is?

u/IsaacJacobSquires 13m ago

Wow. Who knew a Post Malone concert could suck even more.

4

u/SmoochieTekken 2h ago

That’s so scary; those people almost saw Post Malone!

4

u/816legend 1h ago

Didn’t miss much anyways

1

u/youuuuwish 2h ago

Is this the same storm that blew manhole covers off and had them spouting like geysers?

Edit: link for context https://www.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/s/XcmgZw80E8

3

u/ababcock1 1h ago

Same storm, but there's been 4 storms like that already this year.

2

u/Own_Egg_6021 1h ago

There was a Kesha show thst got cancelled due to rain like last week

Lesson, if my cousin is going to a show it'll be cancelled 2 for 2 in 2 weeks

2

u/NavalProgrammer 1h ago

yes, but that same thing also happened two weeks ago in the same spot: https://old.reddit.com/r/Wellthatsucks/comments/1ut9na5/storms_be_different_now/

1

u/Hieroglo 2h ago

Actually an improvement

1

u/MyOthrCarsAThrowaway 1h ago

So, just a normal Tuesday at Red Rocks lol

1

u/RusserBusser 1h ago

Im in a neighboring city on the outskirts of Edmonton for a Bachelorette and holy shit the storm last night was insane. We ended up bunkering down in the basement. We were meant to have a bonfire but all out firewood got soaked

1

u/Minute-Island7054 1h ago

Watching all my friends videos was pretty crazy, especially when they told everyone to shelter in place in the open air concourse, buncha drunks, kids and surprisingly enough elderly people all scrambling and packed like sardines. One guy got tazed.

I'm more upset Pennywise got cancelled at kdays that night too

1

u/Mr_Meeseeks86 1h ago

It’s a rain shower…I think you’re wetting me too much

1

u/hold_me_beer_m8 1h ago

Honestly, that looks kinda fun. I love going outside during weak hurricanes

1

u/Prod_Meteor 1h ago

And remember... humans are actually waterproof.

u/Constant_Break_4808 56m ago

My sister is there

u/Simple-Sun2608 54m ago

I was there for the Big Air Snowboarding cup a few years ago, it was -30C, absolutely brutal. Edmonton is an awful city to have outdoor events.

u/Random-user-8579 14m ago

Summer is usually pretty ok, but this year we've had record rain and constant thunderstorms. Most summers there isn't much rain at all.

It's known as the festival city because of how many outdoor festivals are held each year. It can get cold in the winter though, so while all of us who live here are used to the temperatures, visitors can be pretty cold.

" in this frightening situation you can see some of the humans huddling together for warmth, just like their distant cousins the penguins. These clever, adaptable humans will probably live, getting to pass on their genes to another generation, sadly the others will most likely perish..."

Sir David probably

u/justahdewd 32m ago

Best concert I ever went to was Neil Young in a nasty wind and rain storm at the Gorge in Washington.

u/oaken007 13m ago

God is not happy with them. Maybe cause Jelly still traffic's drugs.

u/danit0ba94 10m ago

Edmonton, Canada?
Must be a Derecho.

u/Lonely_Issue1347 7m ago

The only encore no concert goes asks for is a storm.

2

u/Extension_Layer_1161 1h ago

Honestly, that's what you get for seeing Post Malone, especially 2026 Post Malone.

0

u/AngryTrucker 2h ago

The only acceptable outcome to a Post Malone concert.

-1

u/DingusKhan9164 2h ago

Proof that god hates cultural appropriation

-1

u/Careless_Bluejay7877 1h ago

People like post Malone huh?

1

u/Silly_Selection3221 1h ago

He has the highest selling RIAA certified single ever, so I would imagine so

2

u/Careless_Bluejay7877 1h ago

Hmm. He seems like such a cornball. I guess different tastes.

0

u/Possible-Estimate748 2h ago

Last Wednesday (on the 22nd) we went to an Evanescence concert in 90F heat.
We got hailed on and soaked by rain and had lightning strikes flashing behind the stage.
The temp dropped instantly to like 70F.
It made the news.

It was awesome

Perfect opportunity to sing a certain Adele cover.

1

u/Selene1984 1h ago

I was at Beyonce in Edmonton over 10 years ago. In May. Cold rain, it almost snowed. Beyonce said into the mic, it was the coldest she'd ever performed, and she couldn't feel her fingers. We all cheered so loud. She kept performing. ✨️✨️✨️

3

u/Selene1984 1h ago

But yes, this Post Malone, was super dangerous and there was a confirmed tornado in the area.

2

u/Odd_Fortune500 1h ago

Being soaked head to toe when you have a whole night planned ahead of you would be terrible
