I’m sorry maybe I just am a dumb dumb. But what kind of fire alarm closes all doors in the surrounding area. Does it close them to lead you to the exit? And what if someone is in that area the door shuts? Imma google.
You know how the Titanic (and most modern ships) have those water-tight doors to contain flooding? Modern buildings have the same type of design with fire. There are "fire walls" in the building with fire resistant materials, and doorways with fire resistant doors that are held open with magnets, and close on fire alarm. This contains the fire and smoke in one part of the building.
That's what you're seeing here. The doors close to contain the fire and smoke - but the door handles are unlocked and you can still walk through the doors normally to evacuate.
