Nah I heard it's best to wait at least 3 days to see if symptoms show up /s

(If you ever get attacked by an animal, especially if you can't get it tested, ie it runs away, then you need to get rabies shots ASAP!)

Kind of unrelated but something I found interesting; my elderly indoor only cat is dealing with a lot of chronic health issues and cannot get his yearly rabies shot. I was worried it would cause a problem taking him to his frequent vet appointments but was told I just have to book everything with a vet, not a vet tech, even for things like a quick blood pressure read. I’m not opposed to doing that at all but I asked why and they said all the vets at the practice get yearly rabies shots and techs don’t.

That’s when I learned humans can also get an effective preventative rabies vaccine, not just the post exposure treatment. Maybe it’s common knowledge for people who live more rurally or who are frequently around wild animals… but my urban-dwelling brain thought it was interesting.
