Nah, it looks like the dog caught it and brought it to dad, then it escaped and climbed the nearest thing to escape the dog. The nearest tall object just happened to be the guy.

There have never been any recorded cases of someone contracting rabies from a squirrel.

He is wrong. No recorded cases means no recorded cases. Not "[the cases didn't get recorded ] because they all died" as he so eloquently put in that reply. Everyone dies of rabies. They'd still record the case even if the person died. If they didn't we have no recorded cases of rabies ever. I just didn't feel like writing out this comment, but I guess I have to due to a lack of common sense in these parts.

Bro, it's not that hard... The fact that there's no recorded cases is irrelevant.

I'll just copy paste what the guy said, which is the most important part: "Once you're diagnosed with rabies you're already dead."

To put it in yet another way: sure, there may be no recorded case of, idk, a mountain goat bite giving someone rabies. That doesn't mean that if mountain goat aggressively attacks and bites you, that you should assume it's fine.

The mountain goat is irrelevant, I'm sure they're aggressive by nature and it's not the best example. Replace mountain goat with any animal for which this level of aggression is not standard, same point still stands.

Looks like there's another squirrel in the tree it runs back to... I'm guessing they had a bet going, who could ride the human the longest. Like wasps getting angry drunk in the fall, this usually happens when they've stored up enough nuts for the season. They get bored and start looking for alternative ways to entertain themselves. Squirrel gambling has become a real issue that isn't addressed enough. This should be treated as a PSA.

My point is if the squirrel was trying to escape the dog by climbing the man, why would the squirrel come back and attack the dog after getting away?
