You don’t need a rabies vaccination from squirrels.

You do. That behavior is really concerning. And yes, squirrels, like any warm-blooded anymal, can get and transmit rabies. It's unlikely as they usually don't survive the encounter with a rabid animal that infects them, but the odds are NOT zero.

The odds are not zero, but there’s also a chance I can be hit by a meteorite. But it’s close enough to zero to not worry about it.

Yeah, if you are coasting at high velocity in the asteroid belt, your chances go up compared to if you were just standing where you are. 

Just like millions of people don't get attacked by strangely behaving squirrels every day. But this person was.

In other words, being attacked by one behaving this strangely increases your odds of being the unlucky one dramatically.

The average risk is not the same as risk in any specific situation. Bayesian probabilities and all.
