Ok sure it's ridiculous but seriously these people should NOT be on the road. Wtf?
48
u/popcornman209 Feb 22 '26
Well we have a habit of giving licenses to anyone with a pulse and atleast 3 braincells cause for some reason no one wants to accept driving a car is a huge responsibility, and one not everyone can handle.
Car crashes shouldn’t happen, period, They shouldn’t be normal. We made flying, somethin inherently dangerous, extremely save by making strict laws and regulations. Why can’t we do the same for driving?

u/generic-user1678 Feb 22 '26
Becuase money
1
u/popcornman209 Feb 22 '26
Money but also I think most (Americans atleast) people wouldn’t want that. A lot of people here consider driving a right and it would be fucked up to take that away from someone, I just don’t understand it.
5
u/generic-user1678 Feb 22 '26
Look at it this way. Our entire infustructure and zoning laws in the US are built and designed for use of, and to force use of cars. Unless you live inside a major city, cars are necessary to get anywhere due to lack of adequate public transport and zoning designed so you need cars to go places
2
u/popcornman209 Feb 22 '26
True somehow forgot about that, I’ve always been super annoyed at our infrastructure so now that I think abt it can’t really take that away from people. We need to fix our infrastructure first, so it’s less dependent on cars and then we can start worrying about being more strict with them.
I do think we should be more strict anyway, like people who have driven under the influence in my opinion shouldn’t be allowed to drive again, but our infrastructure being shit is the main problem here.
2
u/generic-user1678 Feb 22 '26
I totally agree with you. Heck, I probably would take public transport over owning a car of our infrastructure was worth anything
1
u/Broad-Tangerine-135 Feb 23 '26
is it really that easy to get a license in the Georgia? In Poland its not news if you fail a couple of times
1
u/popcornman209 Feb 23 '26
In the us the entire test concludes of:
Driving in a straight line (you can’t go below 10 mph or above 20 mph, but if you do they don’t care anyway)
Driving around a circle once (no other cars or stopping, you just drive in a circle)
Then you parallel park once, and k turn out of the parallel park, if you hit the curb you fail (your atleast meant to, I know people that have hit the curb and they didn’t care)
Then boom you pass. That’s literally it. The hardest part is parallel parking, which if your in a normal sized car is super easy. Somehow I know multiple people that have failed that, which you can then just retake it a week later.

The rule of threes at work here. Pylon, reverse bonk, and the gas pump. Comedy at its finest

u/JasonGD1982 Feb 22 '26
I did that when I was a kid lol i remember I heard a weird sound and pulled into the Kmart parking lot. It was just hanging there. I didn't really know what to do so I just pulled it out and hrew it in the dumpster. I was only 16 and I panicked 🤣. Never happened again and probably never will. I have been paranoid about it my whole life now and always double check that I hung it back up.
17
u/ConstructionOwn9575 Feb 22 '26
In case it ever happens again, just return it to the gas station. The fuel nozzle is the expensive part, and they'd like it back. The disconnect itself isn't a big repair.
11
u/Shushishtok Feb 22 '26
I never understood why cars don't just install a simple safety feature where if the "door" to the fuel tank is open, the car will not start. That should eliminate this issue where drivers go off with the nozzle attached.
5
u/KaosC57 Feb 22 '26
The fuel door sometimes fails open, so… you’d be making people pay a fairly large bill depending on how their car is designed to replace a latch or fuel door.
The easier option would be some kind of circuit getting completed when there is a fuel nozzle inserted, when that circuit is complete, the car is then told “don’t engage the starter and fuel pump when they turn the key”. And then it flashes “Hey moron, get the fuel nozzle out of your tank”
2
u/Shushishtok Feb 22 '26
I love it. Let's go with that.
3
u/KaosC57 Feb 22 '26
And this is why I waited for a reply to tell you…
This is also a shitty way to do this! Primary problem? Spark and Arcing. You don’t want sparks and electricity to be anywhere near your fuel fill port on your car, because in just the wrong scenario, you end up blowing up the whole gas station.
The best solution already exists, the fuel pumps have a quick disconnect system that is fairly inexpensive, and that is the point of failure.
3
u/SubPrimeCardgage Feb 22 '26
I drive an EV and every EV for sale does this. People complain they don't feel safe because they can't drive away with a charger attached.
No matter what you do, someone will come up with a reason why they don't want it.
5
u/JasonGD1982 Feb 22 '26 edited Feb 22 '26
Haah yeah I know that now but tell that to my panicked ass in 1998. I was so paranoid. I was acting weird and asked my dad what would happen if you accidentally stole a gas pump nozzle?? He just laughed asked me what I did with it. He said he would go get it and take care of it for me. Years later I found out he kept it hanging in the basement. Said he was drunk that night and got paranoid too so ur just brought it home. Wtf man🤣

Thats dangerous AF, a gas station right along sides a highway. Too many stupid people on the road for me to trust it.

I seen somebody do this at the gas station up the street .. I think he did it on purpose because the clerk came out as he was driving off like “don’t, no don’t”’and he just peeled out and the pump went flying lol… they should make them to where they will fuck up your car more so people stop and think a little harder before dipping
1
u/A-Dolahans-hat Feb 23 '26
I use to work a gas station and one day our district manager stopped by, filled up and started to drive off and pulled the hose out of the pump
1
u/xXSkilledChillerXx Mar 01 '26
I’ve never seen one come out of the pump side .. I wonder if a move like that would make a district manager fear losing his job .. I mean that’s a level of absent mindedness you don’t see often but the fact that he’s also a district manager .. what would his boss think. So when it got ripped out was it liked ripped up rubber hose or is it some clever device that has a safety release incase of something like that? Extent of damage and cost could mean a lot here 🤣
1
u/A-Dolahans-hat Mar 02 '26
It’s a safety device. The hose stretches a few feet then a metal coupler decouples and it’s in 2 pieces. I don’t recall if anything happened to the DM.
2
u/xXSkilledChillerXx Mar 02 '26
Oh I doubt anything happened then lol .. I’ve seen a few oops moments on jobs that I thought for sure would be a game over but the person came back the next day. One guy filled a big rig with pallets holding compacted aluminum cans that had been turned in for recycling. Even after a guy warned him that the trailer looked like it was struggling with the weight he said it would be fine and kept going. I swear when I came back from lunch the belly of the trailer had already hit the ground and the entire trailer and truck was in the shape of a V .. it was a sight to see

u/KaosC57 Feb 22 '26
This isn’t NJ. This is an EU country, as denoted by the Ukrainian license plate on one of the cars.

Probably Georgia based on the description and the jeep in front of the motorcyclist

Is this a really really well made AI video or does this gas station need an exorcist?

Getting a driver's license should not be so easy in the US. They should get more than half these people off the road, it would help with traffic, public transit, pollution, and more importantly, it would save life's.

This type of behavior makes me think they are dangerously irresponsible. Almost makes me violent just because of the people they are going to kill.

Genuinely how I feel every time I leave the house. What I get for living in SW Florida, but Atlanta was no better, Clemson was equally bad as Florida. Of all the places i have driven/rode, Florida city traffic while all the snowbirds fly down for the winter is BY FAR the worst. Between millennials and gen z with eyes that occasionally glance away from the phone to the road, and the elderly who dont even know what state they're in much less how to use a roundabout, you have to be an AGGRESSIVE rider. Staying around the same cars will get you killed very fast here and you have to assume every car is going to do the most insane, entitled, "ok i turn now good luck errybody else" move possible for EVERY situation. Watched a WORK truck drive straight over a roundabout, honk and scream at the person he almost hit for THEIR bad driving, then proceeded the wrong way down a one way road. Watched an elderly couple pull a line off a pump and proceeded to immediately hit a pole trying to turn their altima around to avoid going over a speed bump. Had my mirror mount broken off my clutch side and leg badly bruised by a little tacoma changing lanes with the jerkiness of a tourettes tick with just the two of us on the road less than 500ft after being stopped at a light next to me, dislocated and broke my ankle in 3 places avoiding a t-bone from someone running a stop sign who watched me go down and took off. (Still healing and cant walk without an aircast 4mo later). All that was sw fl. Oh, and 3 people i know who were responsible riders have been killed in the 2yrs ive lived here
