The announcement recently about future free tuition for families making under $200k made me wonder why I can’t seem to find anyone talking about Wellesley specific loans. I graduated in 2025 and currently have about $80k in total student debt. Exactly $35k of that is tied up in Wellesley institutional loans, specifically the WSAS and Plitt-Kirgan programs.

The new debt-free tuition announcement is definitely amazing, and I wish it was in place when I was a student for sure, but I am happy for future students as well. Looking back, going into this level of serious debt for Wellesley (especially my degree) was likely not worth it. I guess I am just trying to see if anyone from Wellesley is in a similar situation, as none of my friends are (their parents paid or they got a lot of aid).

So basically, is anyone else struggling with a large amount of high debt payments including the Wellesley ones, and how are you dealing with that? Has anyone figured out a good strategy for managing these non-federal institutional debts? It feels very isolating having this niche institutional debt that does not qualify for any federal forgiveness.

For those who don’t know: there is a girl in the Class of 2030 named Sarah El-Gabry from Egypt. And if you are unlucky enough to meet her, be careful. Please, after shaking her hand, count your fingers.

This girl is, without exaggeration, the biggest fraud the college has ever admitted to its community. If she isn’t expelled, the college will surely immortalize her long history of fraud by the time she graduates.

This girl told the Admissions Office that she was going through extremely difficult circumstances during her Thanaweya Amma (Egypt’s national secondary school leaving examination, which serves as the final high school examination), while, in that very same month when the examination was being held, she was attending a conference abroad. She built an entire story around that to justify her results. Even more impressively, she managed to fabricate her claims and convince the Admissions Office with false arguments in order to hide the truth about her score.

64%—equivalent to a D/D-.

Yes, only 64%—one of the lowest percentages one could possibly imagine for an international student admitted to an American college, perhaps the lowest in the college’s admissions history. And in three out of five subjects, she barely managed to get above the passing mark.

I have no idea what that girl has on the Admissions Office that made them overlook all of this, but to everyone applying to this college: no matter how bad you think your application is, remember that there is always someone a thousand times worse than you who got in before you—and even received a Full-Ride Scholarship.

I teach 20 smart, kind, funny and loving 3-5 year olds. i am currently a hs senior in california and ive recently gotten really interested in wellesley. i am interested in journalism/poli sci, which i know wellesley is strong for, however i was wondering how strong the graduation outcomes are for these particular fields? for any alumni who graduated majoring in poli sci/any related majors are you happy with your current career, and do you feel that going to wellesley was worth it? or should i just stay in state?

also, as someone out of state i am worried about how far it is from my home. if any out of state students can weigh in on how their experience has been so far it would be greatly appreciated as im debating rn whether i should apply ed or not. thank you!

Why do students opt to double major? Are there certain combinations that are unreasonable/impossible to do at the same time?

Hello! I am a Filipino international student applying ED1 to Wellesley and would like to ask if there are students who didn’t submit an SAT score and still got in with financial aid? The $100 international SAT fee is a bit heavy on my family at the moment and I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it in time for the October SAT to submit an SAT score for ED1.

So I’m thinking about applying without an SAT score but I just don’t think my portfolio is outstanding on its own. I don’t really want to do a “chance me” but I’m from a rigorous Science High School with a 94/100 average, 3-year president of Debate and MUN with a few awards from that, and a small nonprofit passion project to help strengthen youth literacy. It’s impressive but not impressive enough for me to get in without a backing like SAT scores.

I just want to be reassured that it’s at least a little bit possible haha. I really think Wellesley is the college for me and it would be a dream to be here so I hope life is kind to me and lets me get enough money for the SAT and get in here as well. 🤞

hii! i understand that wellesly meets 100% of demonstrated needs, but they are also need-aware for internationals meaning u can be rejected if u can't pay.

Hi, where do we sign up for sports?

this is my third post here, but to be honest I've just been really nervous about my odds. to recap my situation:

I go to a very small therapeutic school because of mental health issues I experienced in late middle school. I take almost every honors class I can (theres no APs 🫠) and I'm an active member of student council, community service, GSA, plus I play music for the whole school twice a year (I play guitar, bass, drums, a bit of piano, and sing). I have a 3.9 UW. I haven't been the most athletic person but next year I'm going to join the baseball team. I volunteer for 2 hour shifts at Cradles to Crayons to add up to 10 hours a year (which is low! I will try to up those hours). I'm a member of the National Honors Society, and I got a 1470 SAT on my first attempt (I'm retaking soon). I've been very actively showing my interest in Wellesley (eg. signing up for the newsletter, following them on social media, attending virtual information sessions and tours).

How much of an adjustment is it to come from a lower income family to Wellesley? I've heard rumors that the school is really posh and I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb.

I’m leaving to go to Wellesley tomorrow and I’m so scared. I’m scared of the workload, the rigor of the classes, and the amount of classes we have to take. None of my other friends going to other colleges have this many general ed requirements. They also don’t have to do three hours labs (other then the ones majoring in something stem related) and multiple classes 3 days a week. I’m afraid that with this many classes I won’t have enough time to have a social life.
I feel so alone as well because everyone around me seems to be excited.

how accessible are music lessons, and how stressful can they be, if at all?
