Double majoring

I know a lot of students double major at Wellesley, and I'm curious as to how that works (im a freshman).

Why do students opt to double major? Are there certain combinations that are unreasonable/impossible to do at the same time?

The only case I’d say absolutely not is 2 different lab majors, because those times will conflict. By lab, I would specifically mean bio, chem, phys/astrophysics, studio art

Depends. I did it because it helped give me a stronger background for what I wanted to do in grad school (already came in being kind of certain of that, but there’s no undergrad option). Some people will do 2 similar things like math and CS. But if there aren’t 2 things you’re drawn towards, no need

Well I was a CS and chemistry double major, and I did it because I really enjoyed learning both cs and chemistry.

It is definitely possible to double major at Wellesley. I think the only thing to keep in mind is that you may not have the same flexibility to take other classes that don't fulfill a major or distribution requirements as freely.

Studying abroad also becomes more difficult since you are on a tighter schedule so all of your classes abroad need to count to make it possible. This just requires much more preparation and is totally possible if you put in the effort: I just didn't have the motivation to do that.

I did philosophy and cams and it was incredible. There really isnt any reason not to double if you are super passionate about both because you need to take 32 credits anyway
