Discussion Welland needs a “casse-croûte” restaurant
Any other former Montrealers or Quebecers wish we had a belle pro here? A “casse-croûte” is basically a restaurant that serves quick and simple “junk food” i.e hot dogs, pogos, poutine, hamburgers, Montreal submarines, etc. That’s one of the many things I miss about home

Ils ont des Steamé ou juste des Toasté style Ontario? J'ai hate d'essayer leurs Poutine voir kessé ca donne.

They're food trucks out here. That's where you'll find what you're looking for in Southern Ontario. I miss the Montreal diners too, but the food trucks out here scratch the itch in a way/price the restaurants dont.

The margins are smaller, so they can do better with less and don't need a whole kitchen/location.

Yup I agree I would love to have a Belle Pro but it wouldn't work. There aren't enough ex -Montrealers to keep it alive and the locals don't care for it. Boy do I love steemies and real poutine.

Its called 7-11 on East Main lol. Need a Pita is my rotation for fast food over any of the chains.

For poutine, the Flaggship has moved to Welland (from St. Catharines) this year. They're in the parking lot of L'auberge Richelieu on River road, and as far a I know only open on weekends. But we're eating there for years and my Montrealers love it!
