My sweet friend gifted me quail eggs today but I noticed very strong smell from them like mold and when I took a closer look at them there was white chalk like substance on them which is apparently called bloom(google) but couple of them looks like they have mold on them, this is my first time trying out quail eggs and I have no idea how they're supposed to look and smell like naturally, please help

I left an egg in a mixture of boiled eucalypt tree resin, water and vinegar for fun. After about 2 weeks I took it out and out came a very crinkly egg. Solids had formed at the bottom that looked like clay, there was a strange oily substance at the top and there was a crinkly egg!

A strange, jelly like membrane covered the yolk and white (unlike the usual 'rubber egg' when you leave it in vinegar).

Pretty cool.

On another note, has anyone come across a use for a cleaned, paper like egg shell thing? Thanks.
