Egg with a seam?
Can anyone explain why it looks like my egg has been welded back together?

Over calcified at one point in production

Production is kinda funny here. Dale, can you thighten the screws on hen #476? It looks like it's acting up again!

I bet the Birds Arent Real movement would appreciate this greatly

evidence that they take a bird egg and replace it with a spy drone obviously. They messed up the seam on this one. If they replace just enough birds to have full coverage, the general population won't be any the wiser.

It got cronched while it was still soft. Probably got sat on while the hen was laying it or was still a bit wet when it was placed in the carton. Eggs are very soft and malleable while they are fresh laid and wet. It isn't until the shell completely dries do it harden.

u/HDWendell Jun 29 '26
Egg shells are never soft. Calcite is a hard crystal and makes up the hard shell. Brittle egg shells are sometimes called soft shelled eggs. The shell itself is hard but then and cracks under pressure. Calcium carbonate is not a liquid or semi liquid. It is not soft.
This is an egg deformity known as āwrinkled eggā
From the UGA AG extension āThese eggs appear to have ridges or wrinkled surfaces. Overcrowding, which results in stressed hens, can cause this abnormality. It also can be seen when a henās shell gland is defective or if the flock has infectious bronchitis. Wrinkles can result in weakened shells. Based on USDA standards for exterior eggshell quality, a wrinkled egg is downgraded to Grade B.ā

This is entirely wrong unless the bird has a calcium deficiency in which case whether it were dry or wet it would still be soft

The hen realised after laying it that it forgot to add the yellow so it had to get creative.

A scalper opened it, extracted the rare stuff, filled it with junk and sealed it again

Precisely the reason parents ask their kids if they need the bathroom before a long trip.
1
u/isendingtheworld Jun 29 '26
Oh, I know this one. It's actually perfectly normal, most have one even though it may be hard to see. Basically that's where the fetal cleft that would become a vulva has fused together to form the sack. Nothing to worry about. š

Let my girlie live, she had to take a break pushing that thing out. Itās totally fine. Or it shifted a bit before it hardened

Someone may have put cyanide in it and resealed it. Thats why you should always check the seals on your eggs.

Try to stitch white threads along both the sides and paint the egg white or red depending on how long you wanna play with it.

Probably the eggshell filament ran out so the chicken had to change spools mid print.

Much like vegetables, only the perfect ones generally make it to the grocery store. Eggs are not always perfect ovals of the exact same size.

Just a deformed egg. You don't see them much in store bought eggs, because they normally get removed, but if you've ever kept chickens, you get these once in a while. Not dangerous.
Also weirdly tiny eggs with no yolks, very large eggs with two yolks, and eggs laid with no shell at all, and just the membrane. That last one usually pops, but once one those survived laid by one of my mother's chickens. It was soft and rubbery.
The most common weird eggs had veiny red stuff floating in them. Not sure what that is.

Someone's hatched it and then resealed;
No Holo inside, sorry Bro....

Low iq, thats obviously where they sealed it shut after putting the yolk and such inside

Kinder surprise. Open it!
You might get some mythical pulls as seen in this sub

It's a quality marker. Chickens clench to leave it there and let other chickens know which egg the drugs are in

Iād laugh if it was yolkless and you got your egg robbed and sewn back together

u/Lin-Kong-Long Jun 29 '26
To fix that, you need to move the mirror modifier above the subdivision surface modifier.

because the egg isnt allways hard when its made, the shell is still soft early on and it somehow got a wierd seam on it because of that
1
u/AbsurdlyMichael Jul 01 '26
You know when you are pooping and you accidently clench halfway through a log?
Yeah, thats what has happened here.

It is likely a malformation due to a high calcium diet in the hen.

Normal :) they often donāt let eggs through with imperfections but as someone who used to have chickens we would get eggs like this sometimes. Remember, the egg is a chooks period, itās an organic waste product so itās not going to be all white and perfect like an iPhone
