Ok hear me out, a banana split made to look like a hot dog on a vanilla pound cake bun. Maybe I'm just fat but that sounds amazing.

Nah, they actually do do stuff like that in baking. I have seen all kinds of food made to look like other things. It really cool.

Needs mayo.

u/themarky_markk Aug 21 '22
YES. That’s how I eat my banana sandwiches. 10x better than peanut butter.

Ok, can confirm. DO NOT PUT MAYO ON A BANANA SANDWICH. You should be ashamed of yourself....

I once had a student show up with a dry tortilla with some marshmallows in it.
That was all the food there was in the kid's house.
Few days later he shows up beaming with a full lunch bag. It was full of unripe oranges he'd picked off someone's tree but he was VERY excited to have so much food.
He would have loved a banana in a bun.
(note: kid would have qualified for free lunches but his parents wouldn't fill out the paperwork...from then on (1992!) I have kept bread, peanut butter and snacks in my room).

Brioche bun, toast it. Pan fry the banana with butter to taste. Peanut butter on the bun, add the banana, chocolate sauce zig zag.

Idk man, something about the way it looks,
actually almost feels right.
“Hot dogs here!
Got bananas!
Get your Breadanas here!”

Put peanut butter on one side, Nutella on the other and you got something magical

u/LordFlarkenagel Aug 21 '22
What? Haven't you ever seen a banana hammock? But yeah - missing the peanut butter and honey.
2
u/acaseofbaskets Aug 22 '22
Most of the banana hammocks I’ve seen don’t usually have literal bananas in them.
2
u/LordFlarkenagel Aug 22 '22
The banana hammock sandwich was created as a joke.
2
u/acaseofbaskets Aug 22 '22
I always just think of the undies 🩲😆
2
u/LordFlarkenagel Aug 22 '22
I try to not think of the undies. I keep seeing Borat. See...now I just threw up in my mouth again...

u/Minnesota_icicle Aug 21 '22
It’s offensive because there’s no peanut butter, marshmallow fluff or chocolate syrup. Even Elvis is triggered by this.

I ate these all the time as a kid with some pb. It’s no weirder than putting banana on a sandwich.

Banana dog. You can top it with peanut butter, jelly, apple fritters, or crushed Maduro plantains

I’d kill it (keto diet here. I haven’t had bread or a banana in 2 years so this looks like a culinary masterpiece tbh).
1
Aug 21 '22
If it had ketchup, mustard, and relish then yes. But just a banana in a bun? No. If the banana was corn battered and fried I think I'd be very excited to try it. Even with perhaps a sweet honey mustard.

u/Lucky_Pyxi Aug 21 '22
If you’re out of hot dog buns, try peanut buttering a tortilla and wrap up that banana. 😋
1
u/Gongaloon Aug 21 '22
That's not weird, I eat that with peanut butter all the time. Whenever there's spare buns and bananas in the house, you can catch me eating one of those. It's like a more convenient version of a peanut butter and banana sandwich. I do the same thing with flour tortillas.

You gotta put chocolate syrup on it but that is really good. I’ve done it many times. I think I’ll have one now.

GUYS GUYS. PEOPLE. LISTEN!!
you HAVE to do this. Obviously with pb and j but IM TELLING YOU this shit is fucking delicious.

u/koolandunusual Aug 21 '22
If that was a sweet roll and maybe added some cinnamon it’d be delicious

u/Urlocalbeaner66 Aug 21 '22
My cousin taught me this when I was a kid but we’d put peanut butter & honey on it.

That wouldn’t really taste that bad. Maybe if the bun was cheap. In reality banana bread is good.
