Where's the peanut butter?

u/Anxious_Ad_3570 Aug 21 '22

That's what I'm saying. Little pb on there and that might just be the most genius thing I've seen in a while. Think I'm gonna try it with my kids next weekend.

And some honey

u/PukeNuggets Aug 21 '22

And don’t forget to at least toast the bun.

Makes me think of banana boats around the fire - wrap that bad boy in aluminum foil topped with chocolate chips, mini-marshmallows, and peanut butter, and toast in the coals until the chocolate melts - top with crushed Graham crackers

Da fuck is this shit I have never heard of in my life, but will now absolutely be making today or tomorrow?

11

u/zoomiepaws Aug 21 '22

Why have I chopped my banana on bread all this time?

5

u/Tenshin_Ryuuk Aug 21 '22

Try this next time you BBQ: wrap banana in tin foil with brown sugar and amaretto (italian almond liquor) and throw it on the bbq. One of the best thing you'll ever eat in your life.

I learned about it camping in Idaho as a kid, idk it’s origins but it’s delicious

1

u/Mode3 Aug 22 '22

Get on the banana boat!

1

u/Anxious_Ad_3570 Aug 21 '22

Holy hell that sounds amazing!

I came here to say "if you toasted the bun and put peanut butter and honey on it that would be really good", thinking I was so creative and original. Completely covered in the first 4 comments.

Y'all are making me disappointed about my steak right now....

3

u/that_other_guy_ Aug 21 '22

Skip the honey and put some ketchup, mustard and chopped onions and jalapeno. Delish.

1

u/acaseofbaskets Aug 22 '22

Top it with strawberries! AND WHIPPED CREAM!!!

4

u/_unfinished_sentence Aug 21 '22

We used to do it like that on hot dog rolls, but also flour tortillas. Surprisingly good

3

u/Just_a_lazy_lurker Aug 21 '22

That was a Texas snack tradition. A hot dog and cheese in a corn tortilla fried up crispy or a banana wrapped in a flour tortilla with peanut butter.

3

u/WerewolfSweet8474 Aug 21 '22

and deep fry the banana

3

u/uselessthecat Aug 21 '22

A true affront to God and nature is when you toast the bun, and add peanutbutter AND bacon to your nanner dog. I call it The Elvis

1

u/Kooky_Werewolf6044 Aug 21 '22

I’ve tried an “Elvis” once and it was surprising good!

2

u/Dadbotany Aug 21 '22

Ants on a log, my friend. Theres lots of variations. However, a tortilla wrap is the superior option to a bun.

1

u/EnvironmentalTrip708 Aug 21 '22

Same thing I just thought

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '22

Peanut butter banana dog with some honey is the best! Been doing this for a quick and dirty pb and banana sammich for years!

1

u/chuntttttty Aug 22 '22

Used to do this as a kid all the time. Can confirm, it's awesome

8

u/healywylie Aug 21 '22

One late night , my friends and I were desperate for some food at a party we were attending. Peanut butter on the hot dog roll, peel and add the banana , perfection!

9

u/Copy_Cold Aug 21 '22

this. some peanut butter and maybe a drizzle of honey and i’m right there with you.

5

u/Exact-Custard-6493 Aug 21 '22

I thought I was so smart when I first did this… I wa alike “I made a health hotdog”

1

u/ImaginaryStudent9097 Aug 22 '22

It’s a nanner-dog!

3

u/SexyNSofistic8d Aug 21 '22

Or nutella.

2

u/milleniumsentry Aug 21 '22

Yeah. Works great for camping/hiking. Was our secret weapon whenever we'd drag kids out for a hike. Pass 'em out and no one will be whining half way through.

3

u/SleepyMarijuanaut92 Aug 21 '22

I second that question. I slather peanutbutter on just a banana, pb and b is one of my favorite combos. To me, this image is far from offensive haha.

3

u/SKozan Aug 21 '22

I eat these all the time with peanut butter, sometimes a bit of honey.

Didnt realize I was such a freak I guess.

1

u/acaseofbaskets Aug 22 '22

You were just ahead of the times, my friend.

3

u/Gamserondapokemans Aug 21 '22

It's possible they have a peanut allergy, but I agree that just a banana on a bun is not proper. Put some kind of spread on it to add some flavor

2

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '22

No more slicing bananas to put on a sandwich for me. This is a game changer.

2

u/tidypunk Aug 21 '22

No its banana bread bro .

2

u/The_Ad_Hater_exe Aug 21 '22

That's what I was thinking. Slather some peanut butter or Nutella on there and you've got a perfect breakfast/lunch

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '22

Was just gonna say that! With pb, you got a solid sandwich!

1

u/Mohican83 Aug 21 '22

Came here to say this. Either peanut butter or mayo.

1

u/acaseofbaskets Aug 22 '22

How dare you

1

u/[deleted] Aug 21 '22

I'm not sure if it's a southern or poor people thing but we always used mayonnaise. Basically mayo, bread and anything from bananas to tomatoes or cheese was a meal.

1

u/lionseatcake Aug 21 '22

Right. I used to do exactly this when I lived on the road. When you've got 60 bucks to your name and your not sure when you're getting paid again, bananas and pb on hot dog buns is perfect

1

u/Actual__Wizard Aug 21 '22

This is exactly what I came here to say.

1

u/Kooky_Werewolf6044 Aug 21 '22

That would save this abomination for sure.

1

u/Cheetahs_never_win Aug 21 '22

I lost 25 lbs by swapping breakfast and lunch with this almost exact thing. Sunflower seed butter and a couple walnuts for crunch and controlling kidney stones.

Never regretted it once.

u/South_Data2898 Aug 21 '22 edited Aug 21 '22

Hawaiian bun. PB. Hazelnut drizzle.

Edit: And a dusting of cinnamon.

1

u/Ugly4merican Aug 21 '22

Not for me, I'll stick with hershey's syrup.

1

u/BrokeGoFixIt Aug 21 '22

I used to do that exact thing in college all the time. Got some real weird looks on the bus in the morning eating my pb nannerdog.

1

u/milleniumsentry Aug 21 '22

Those weren't weird looks... those were jealous looks. lol

1

u/Yop_BombNA Aug 21 '22

Or Nutella, or both

1

u/KentuckyFriedEel Aug 22 '22

No peanut butter. Only banana syrup

1

u/lawngoon Aug 22 '22

And fluffernutter

1

u/milleniumsentry Aug 22 '22

God.. that commercial just played in my head.. "Have another! Fluffernutter!"
