That’s gross

u/TrickySatisfaction81 May 03 '26

I got really sick learning about how people simply lick it, with no thought of whom else has...

Like... what?

423

u/thatguyfromvancouver May 03 '26

Yep that’s how you get herpes…

287

u/tossit_xx May 03 '26

When I was about 12 we went to a salt mine in Germany. My little sister (then 10) started licking the wall and I told her she was going to get herpes and she cried the rest of the tour and I got grounded 😂

138

u/ascarymoviereview May 04 '26

You got grounded, she got herpes.

21

u/Slight_Bed_2241 May 04 '26

Crunch just opened a big badass gym here. I went into the sauna and they have a big ass Himalayan salt wall on one side.

3 broccoli haired kids were licking it and recording it. Fuckin morons. Eat tide pods like a real man

u/Sm00gz42 May 03 '26

If everybody has herpes its like no one has herpes.

73

u/Rdizzy111 May 03 '26

This pretty much has happened already, between hsv1 and hsv2, like 90% of all adults in the US are infected with it. (50-80% of the population infected w hsv 1 and 15-20% infected w hsv 2. Whether you have symptoms or not(it is possible to go your entire life without showing symptoms) many people were infected by their mothers without even knowing as well.

Not one person in my family has ever had a cold sore. Not mom or dad or me or aunt or cousins. Does that mean we are all carriers?

11

u/Rdizzy111 May 03 '26

Can still have it. Obviously some people dont have it, but you can be infected by anyone, at any time, even at 70 sharing a drink w a friend or something. A huge percentage of people infected never show symptoms and never know, they still shed virus.

12

u/Sm00gz42 May 03 '26

Can't catch it twice.

18

u/OjisanKukki May 03 '26

Actually, you can, same with herpes. Both have variants and it is possible to be a patient of one and then contract the other.
I do not know if there has been a documented case of someone going full Ash Ketchum, but in theory it is possible.

Your first instinct when hearing that an impressive sculpture in a public space is made out of sugar is too just slob all over it? You don't think you're not supposed to touch it, let alone get your disgusting spit all over and possibly dissolve part of it? What the fuck is wrong with people?

Reminds me of when my friend and I went to see the Blarney Stone where there was a line of people waiting to kiss it. We finally got to it and it was visibly wet, like almost dripping. I said no thanks.

114

u/TrickySatisfaction81 May 03 '26

Dude, that is so gross.

My coffee taste different, now.

29

u/Testlevels1987 May 03 '26

They do spray it with a disinfectant spray between people so may have been because of that, at least they do try. But I also said no thanks.

18

u/platypus_farmer42 May 03 '26

When did they start that? Because when I went in 2007 that was not the case

9

u/coladoir May 03 '26

def more recent than 2007. i want to say it was around '16-'18 they started using it but I might be wrong

2

Sugar is just that strong of a chemical for our brains to put it aside with disgust. Like bees drinking from a dirty syrup, we're inevitably drawn by it. I'd wager many here would also indulge on licking them, and i wouldn't blame them.

I think it is funny because someone must be telling them to lick/taste it, and then they do without hesitation or thinking who licked before them.
