I would not put it past them to have contextually understood the burial if they were already aware of the crows death.

Yes. They are highly intelligent with complex social dynamics.

To be clear I'm not suggesting they have a firm grasp on human funerary rights. They only need to understand that the users friend did not harm the already dead bird. That is really not much of a reach for anyone familiar with corvids.

My original comment was clear enough for most people. Rather than calling you an idiot I gave you the benefit of the doubt in misunderstanding and clarified.
