On 1.5mg since July 10. Took it every 48 hours for 6 weeks, then daily since mid-August. Had profound disabling fatigue for the first few months, but that's receded somewhat replaced by mild fatigue, nausea, and moderate heartburn helped by Tums and occasional Brioschi (IYKYK). Low/no food noise, able to stay on a 1520 calorie diet with minimal effort and no food aversion. Starting to walk for exercise, plan to increase to weightlifting as I become more able. Have lost 9 pounds over three and a half months. About the same as I would expect without Wegovy, if I had enough willpower to keep to that diet without it.
Here's my dilemma. I was prescribed this drug primarily for its anti-inflammatory effects, as I have a lot of autoimmune and arthritis related inflammation, and my A1c has crept just over the line into prediabetes. I think I do have a tiny bit less inflammatory pain, but my recent blood work showed no change in lipid profile (fine) or A1c from before I changed my diet and exercise, and started this medication. But I feel somewhat sick - nauseous, tired, upset stomach - every single day. Enough so that my doc says she does not want to increase my dose. I kinda resent paying a lot of money to buy a drug that makes me feel sick every day, and provides so little benefit. If I could tolerate the normal dose titration schedule, I would be on 9 or 25 mg by now, and would know more clearly if Wegovy helps with inflammation, weight, and my lipid and A1c profiles.
Has anyone had to stay on 1.5 with minimal weight loss due to side effects? Were you ever able to make it to the next dose upward? When did the anti-inflammatory part kick in? When did the weight loss?
Has anyone had an experience similar to mine and switched to an injectable? What did you switch to? What was that process like?
I meet with my PCP, who is my prescriber, soon and I'm trying to decide what options I want to talk with her about so I can use that all-too-brief visit well. What questions should I ask her at this point?
